This is a hard one for me. There are many I like, but I don't know if I would say they are the best. Half-Life 2 has an amazing singleplayer campaign, even though the ending is a bit of a letdown, but has no multiplayer (at least on the consoles.) Same goes with Bioshock.

I love CoD4, but only for it's multiplayer. It's singleplayer is very bland. Same goes with the Halo series.

I guess I will go with Half-Life 2.

It is a contest between Half-Life 2 and COD4. There is also Golden Eye 007 but I haven't played that game in years.

I'm trying to figure out if you meant doom (coom/qoom) since you spelt it differently in the same sentence... In any event, I like what I like. I like modern ones, but I love the old pc games that I grew up on.

Not a likely choice for most but I really like the Metroid Prime Series.

But I also am partial to Half-Life 2 and Wolfenstein.

Purely based on the way the games handle and the amount of fun I have with them, it's a toss up between Call of Duty 2 and Day of Defeat/Source. Not because they're WW2 games, but, because they play great. I wish there were more FPS games with the same feel as these games. Call of Duty 4 is great, but I think they made it a bit too chaotic, still great, though.

As for favorite FPS where I can play how I want I'd say Far Cry, since I haven't played Far Cry 2 or Crysis yet. (I'm sure one of those will take that mantle)

As for plot, HL2 without a doubt.
