Altered Beast. My brothers told me stories of this game when the whole ROM age was in full swing and I played it then. Of course when I finally got a Genesis and went to a store that carried Genesis games they didn't have Altered Beast. That is until one full year later when I finally found a copy for $2. Of course after this they had it in stock when I went back.

The game itself is still pretty fun to play regardless of quality.

It rocked on Genesis, but I prefer the arcade version every time. It's a kickass experience to have some random guy come over and decide to help you in busting some undead/monster face in. It's still depressing that I don't have a copy of it for Genesis.

It's posts like this that make me wish people would seriously re-evaluate their taste in video games.

I hate that fucking game to no end. It's God damn awful, and the only reason people played it is because there was nothing else "decent" on the Genesis to play at the time. That and lol pack-in games.

Maybe you are the one to re-evaluate your taste in video games. It is a pretty fun game despite it being short. If you want a good challenge try beating a boss with out transforming into a beast. I did that on the final boss. That fight was tough as nails but I had fun.

It had cool music, and it wasn't THAT horrible. Everyone has different tastes in gaming, but I do hate when people bandwagon onto the "best <insert object genre> evar" boat for some things and then I get them and I'm like "lol what?"

The "Best Ever" mentality annoys me every time I hear it. You would think I would be used to it. I enjoyed the arcade and Genesis Altered Beast a whole lot, though.

Some of the times I got pissed about "Best Ever" include Final Fantasy VII, VIII, and X, as well as Zelda: OoT, Shenmue, and Halo.

I tried playing it last night. I couldn't stop laughing, because it's so fucking terrible (cheesy) compared to later Genesis titles. It's not as bad as I remember it, but even still. Golden Axe 2. Now there's a great Genesis game.

While I have never totally understood the love this game gets, it's pretty good. I have nothing against it or anything, it's fun while it lasts. I'm sure it's 1000 times better than this shit storm that never got released in America.

I have Altered Beast via Dreamcast-Sega Smash Pack Vol. 1. Its hard for beginners, but fun with 2 people.

I honestly have no problem with the game or compilation game(s).

Altered Beast on PS2 LOOKED cool. It looked like some sort of beat 'em up where you hulk out into an animal and slaughter people. How can you fuck that up? :-/

How about Doom Troopers? It was on Snes too, but I like the Genesis version better, it's smoother.

So i've played the game for the first time on the mega drive ultimate collection thingy that recently came out and i have to say it's a good game but not great. I heard a lot of praises of it being one of the best games of the 16-bit era and i can't really agree. I rather play something like Shinobi or Streets of Rage.

Altered Beast is pretty meh for me personally. I've maybe made it to Stage 3 or something.
