Hey guys, It's Mr. Cupcake! I guess this is the only place where I can post this topic but, here it goes:

For a while i have been making a 3D animation that is going to be for this website. Originally i wanted it to be 20 sec., but now it's has been doubled to about 40 sec. Even though I have been working on this since mid April, I'm getting close to completing the final half. I don't want to give too much detail on the short animation, which hopefully you guys can understand. I have spent long nights setting this whole thing up.

Oh btw, Handsome Tom, if you don't know who this is, I have emailed you earlier about making an animation that would promote your website. Also if you haven't read my email yet, I'm just doing 8-bit versions of you and Perfect Liz.



Aside from my project, I do hope that this website could be a base for people to create not fan-made material, but creativity. If somebody does have an interesting animation clip, art, or music to show me. Don't hesitate to reply. I'm more than happy to check it out. This could be a good place to critique each other as well as giving fair criticism.

Anyway, I would love to see this 40 second video promotion.

Maya is one tough program to use, but all that tells me is that its going to be shiny, and have Tom look almost as Handsome as Real Tom.

I hope someday i can make some animations, i like that kind of stuff, but i dont have the time to learn now.

i live close to a university that has access to all that stuff on their computers...maybe something similar?

Well, once you get to understand the program, it's actually pretty easy. And there's always something new to learn about the program. Some perfer 3Dmax, but I'm use to this program.

The concept of my short is actually pretty simple. There's no character rigging or detailed models and textures. However that gets evened out by the incredibly huge simplicity. It's very tedious, and everything has to be timed right and accurate with one another. I will show a pic real soon right before I submit it to Handsome Tom.

I'll add you in. It's not going to be a problem . I wasn't sure whether or not to add anyone on GameHeroes cause I wasn't sure if anyone would tell who the hell they are in 8-bit. But what I'm going to do is add them including you in the end with the Game Heroes Logo. When I started working this on mid April, I didn't know who exactly were the top people. I just assumed it was Handsome Tom and Perfect Liz. But yeah, NOW that I know who are the main figures of the site, I can add them in.

The only thing that concerns me is that if I don't get this done, by Thursday, or by the 6th of June, there definetly will be a delay in submitting this. I'm going away on a short trip. So yeah if I add in all the main people, I probably won't be done by maybe mid-late June.

But hey, it would make a difference if I add in everyone.

Finally, I'm back from my trip!

Now a whole week before my summer quarter for college begins, I can finally finish this project that I have worked many nights on. All I need now is a few more days. However, I did promise a pic before submitting this. This video is made specifically for this website. Ive worked this since April, but now I give you a short taste of what is to come:



This work called The Black Square was done by a Russian artist named Malevich in the early 20th Century. To be honest, I always think of "Modern Art" as Bad art with a hint of bullshit!. But he quoted something interesting about this piece that inspired me to create this project. He said:

"The Black Square is the most basic form of art".

Meaning, if you break art down to simplistic shapes, you end up with a square.

For some reason that really pertains well to videogames since a "Pixel is the most basic form of a videogame visual". i mean look at Nintendo games, you're basically looking at a bunch of squares that have been commanded a certain color. And thats exactly what I'm emphasizing in this project.

Even though I don't feeling comfortable of showing a project before submission......What the hell I'm so close to finishing it anyways. One pic won't hurt:





You might question it, but if you pay close attention, you'll see an idea of where I'm going with this. it might not look much, but then again you're only looking at one pic. But you can see the inspiration of malevich's quote. To be honest, this was going to be a simple project when I was developing this, but realized how much potential if I went an extra mile. Which is why it has taken me so long.

I have music synced up finally. Backgrounds are finished. Now it's the final half of the animation.

Even if this isn't shown on any of the podcasts, this was a fun project to work on in general. And I do find this to be artful in some ways. This actually learned to make me patient with long projects like these. Patients baby........Patients.

i know a bunch of stuff, flash,video editing,photoshop...web development it's cool to learn especially alone -_-...

Dudes, just finished!!!!! thank god. I'm done. There is only one thing that i wasnt able to do, but whatever. There were also a few things that I had to edit out such as the 8-bit models of the people at Gameheroes. I thought it was going to be too confusing for the viewer to identify and was making the movie go over 50 secs. And thats stretching it. However, I feel its strong enough. I've submitted it, so hopefully, it'll be shown.
