Well, too bad...because you will never be the guy...unless you are just a god at repetitious gameplay...gameplay so twistedly evil that many have thrown their hands up in tears.



Truth be told, basically everything in this game can and will kill you. Lifebars? Ha! You don't get one in this game! One touch from anything deadly and you are toast.

Who here has ever tackled this evil game? And has anyone ever conquered it? I know of one person who claims to have beaten the game on Very Hard which means that save points are few and far between.

Probably the best thing I love about this game is all the ways it plays homage to classic video games. All the bosses are insane renditions of their videogame counterpart (with exception to Dracula). Mike Tyson is about the size of King Kong, Birdo from Super Mario Bros 2 is a gigantic robot, Zangief from Street Fighter II is green and is about the size of Kraid from Super Metroid...its all just too hilarious.

I woud recommend watching these videos first...just so you know what you are getting yourself into, but if you want a completely unspoiled experience...don't watch them and just play. I bet you will be dead within 1 second.

WOW, **** that game, lol. After watching that video I already know I wouldn't have the time or patience to play a game like that. My PC would be bleeding wires very quickly after playing that game a few times.

I know so many people that Wanna Be the Guy it's not even funny. Only a few of them have beat this monstrosity.

I'll check it out, get pissed at it, then delete it and never see it again.

i actually just re-downloaded it again and got to the same god damn super ghouls and ghosts part (that what i call it due to it looks like the game and they use the music) and get fuckin stuck because getting past those spike is super fucking hard! if you've played it you know what i am talking about, if you have tips please let me know. I WANNA BE THE GUY!

I saw another guy play this once. It was a 30 part series on youtube where he basically played the game fresh and recorded himself doing so. It was great because you could hear everything he said and quite honestly, it got down right funny at times. He got to one part where he just couldn't get a jump right and probably did it over 100 times until he got it. But knowing that watching him play the same spot 100 times over wouldn't be entertaining, he sped up the video 5X so that we could see his deaths and hear his swearing in a super fast high pitched tone. It was hilarious. The best part at the end was when he beat the final boss. Right as he landed the final blow, he accidentally hit a spike and blew up. You could hear him screaming, but the funny thing was that the game had already registered that he won so the end credits came up...you could hear him going, "What? What? I won? WOO-HOO!"

Unfortunately, I can't find it anywhere now. Oh well.

Played a few months ago, never made it passed the third room.

Watched a LET'S PLAY of it on youtube though, the castlevania part was awesome.

As painful as this game looks, I think I'm going to man up and give this game a try and maybe I can be that guy...?

Ok, I've been playing it for awhile and I'm definitely not the guy.

However, it's not as aggravating as I thought, but that might be because I haven't actually gotten that far into the game where I would be pissed if I died.

I've been the guy and do not want to become it again. The Guy's castle was the most difficult f**king castle in gaming history...and the Ghouls 'N Ghost segment really made me want to cry.

I downloaded the game, and couldn't get passed the first level. I'm definitely not The Guy.

Fuck your little game. I never want to play it again.

Edit: No, seriously. This game is tough. I'm on the second screen of the upper path...for three hours.

Yes, I am the Guy. Multiple times. On the second hardest difficulty setting.

I absolutely love the game. It's one of those things where once you've played through it you can appreciate the genius behind it all. What's really fun nowadays is showing your friends the game and watching them hit the traps the game throws at them.

I love the game so much that I've made these little buttons to commemorate how well people do on certain portions of the game!



Let me run down how my little buttons work. I am willing to create custom buttons for people to show how well they are doing in the game. As you go on, I will fill in certain parts to show how well you are doing. Here is what everything means on my buttons.

Units: Those eight circles represent the bosses of the game. Each boss defeated will fill in one of the circles. Should you fill all eight, you have successfully become The Guy!

Border: The border shows what difficulty level you are attempting. Bronze is medium. Silver is hard. Gold is very hard. If you decide to up the difficulty level you wish to attempt, I will change the border color, but you lose what units you had filled. Afterall, you have yet to reach and beat each boss on your new difficulty setting.

Medals: There are three different achievements I'm noting on the button.

1. Clocking a time on Boss Rush mode. Available only after beating the game.
2. Collect all 6 secret items.
3. Beat Boss Rush mode without ever dying.

I wonder if anybody has the balls to take up my offer and show their skills off to everybody...

Never made it past the second level.

This game reminds me of the sacred grounds in Cave Story, only on steroids and much longer. At least in Cave Story, after dying a few dozen times, one could get used to the level, know the tricks to beat it and could beat the game without going insane but this game looks like it's really pushing it to the next level (after the other 2 next levels of course).
