I just hated it because it was hard, boring, frustrating, repetitive, and not fun.

I actually enjoyed the increased difficulty in Sunshine, as it made for a bit of a refreshing change.

I hate to sound generic but I loved SMB3 . Before I go to bed, I am going to pop in Super Mario All Stars and play SMB2...

I really mean SMB2 for those people who think I have made a typo.

hah, actually Super Mario Bros 2 is my favorite Mario game.
I loved it when I was a kid, even more than the first and 3rd...and til this day, it's still my fav'
I really wish they would base another Mario game in 'that' world...a.k.a Marios Dream. They could pull off a 3-D version for it...And besides, I'm getting tired of the typical save the princess from Bowser plot. Lets have mario get stuck in one of his crazy ass dreams again and face off against the typical Mario 2 baddies and the killer bosses like Birdo(the many)Mouser, FryGuy, Wart and all of the other characters plus new ones all in a 3-D Dream-like world which Mario 2 had.....ahh, I love Mario 2. :durnk:

To this day, SMB2 is probably the one I most commonly revisit. I'm not sure why. It's just such a satisfying game to play. Maybe it's that it's more than just running and jumping. The terrain is a bit more interactive than in most other Mario games.

I can usually zip through it pretty quickly, too.

Smb2 is a great game. I prefer it to SMB2 ('mind balls').

While I do vastly favour SMB2 to JSMB2, my favorite Mario game is easily Hotel Mario. It was fun, innovative, and totally awesome. Closing DOORS, man...

...seriously though, I love the hell out of Super Mario World, with New Super Mario Bros coming in at a close second. I haven't really played much of Galaxy, but I did like SM64 when I played it at my cousin's house (I never got it).

Yeah, I prefer the Western SMB2 to the "real" SMB2 as well. It works fine as a bonus game on All-Stars but on its own it's just too damn similar to the original. Plus it's insanely difficult to boot. By comparison, a doctored Doki Doki Panic is more of a sequel than Super Mario Bros. 1.5 lolbackwardswarpzonelol

I also hated the fact of JSMB2 that it was hard as shit.

Stupid poison mushroom, backward warp zones, red plants, flying bloopers, 2 bowsers to fight...

No, all that stuff was nothing. What was really infuriating about that game were the insane jumps. That, and the fact that the Hammer Bros. could actually chase you.

I forgot about that one! There are so damn many little frustrations in that game it's tough to remember them all >_<

I haven't had nightmares since I was about 10 but Japanese SMB2 bought them all back again! Damn that was a hard game! Also I loved Sunshine, I didn't see the problem with it. I couldn't put it down when playing it!

One thing I want to know about is why some people pronounce Mario Merrio. Why can't they pronounce it right? Its like saying Ryeoo instead of Reeoo.

That's a good question. It's not as if Mario's name is Japanese and would be hard to intuitively pronounce (you know, like Ninja GAIDEN or Legend of KAGE). Mario is a name that Americans should be familiar with, even without Nintendo's mascot.

I seem to recall this stemming from the early 80s. When I was a kid and Donkey Kong Jr. came out in arcades, EVERYONE was pronouncing his name "Mary-O". Everyone. Without exception. In fact, I don't remember actually hearing Mario's name pronounced right until I started seeing advertisements for Super Mario Bros. 2.

Haha, JSMB2 is hard, yes, but this game makes that one pale in comparison.

Ah yes, I remember watching that video. It's absolutely hilarious.

I remember trying to play through The Lost Levels on my VC as Mario. I got to a point in... I think it was world 2-3 or 3-1... where there was a jump that I could not figure out for the life of me. I know it would have been easier with Luigi, but still...

Confession: I used to RP in Super Mario 64 after I finished the game. It was quite fun actually...

I think theres to many Mario things to talk about to limit it to one topic. But I still like the idea of a general Mario topic.

Side note: On the computer I always hear his name pronoced Maar-io. But everyone I know including me has always pronoced it Mah-rio.

I also enjoyed Sunshine. I always hated those "Secret of" levels. The camera angles in those levels were awkward and made those levels harder than they were suppose to be.
