I don't think anyone really knew what it was at the time (unless they were those people who were already into RPGs, which was a rare breed). And Nintendo wasn't necessarily marketing it to the RPG crowd (if that even really existed yet in the US), they wanted it as played as any of their other franchises.

I just wish they'd hurry up and release it on virtual console, 3DS, something so the original would go down in price some. That's the one piece missing from my SNES collection that I need for it to feel 'complete.'

I'd like to watch the bottom fall out on that one. Remember when MvC2 was $100 and now resellers can barely move it for $20.

should I buy The Witcher 2 enhanced edition at launch or wait for it to come down in 6 months?

didnt play the first one, but it looks like a pretty solid RPG.

I'm picking it up today or tomorrow. Got some games to trade in and I've been wanting to try it for awhile as the original Witcher on PC is pure awesome. Really looking forward to it.

Oh they get worse the more you play on in the series... far, far worse... well 2's ending was ok I guess, but after that dear god. Awful.

Finished Dead Island last night. It gets a big ol' "meh" from me. It started off awesome. You're on a beautiful Island infested in zombies. Great contrast. Then came the sewer levels... and then the prison with MORE sewer levels... As soon as you left the beach area I wanted the game to be over. The final boss was stupid too.

What REALLY pisses me off though is because I joined my buddy's game I didn't get the achievements for completing any of the acts in the game even though I played through it with him from start to finish. What a pile of shit... I'm done with that game.

I wish the modern day stuff wasn't in it at all. What would be wrong with games taking place in different eras and you're just seeing the twisting lines of this Templar group? Nothing. Nothing would be wrong with that.

deja vu I thought you beat Dead Island months ago? Or maybe you just got to Act IV and quit.

Anyway screw Dead Island and bring on Boarderlands 2

I got to the prison with my buddy but it was 2am at the time and I had enough. Last night I convinced him to finish the last hour and ugh... fuck that game. It had potential and blew it. Yes, bring on Borderlands 2!!

Just traded my old Turion 1.8 ghz laptop for two genesis's, a sega cd (the side one), about 40 genesis games and two sega cd games. The guy has a 32x in his attic that he is searching through that he'll give me if he finds it.

Haven't gone through everything yet, bunch of shit games but does have sonic 1, 2, tmnt tournament fighters, streets of rage 2, all the xmen games, all the spiderman games, Ecco CD, Genesis Classics CD and some other random garbage.

I really think I got the better end of the deal. Have to plug in the CD make sure it works.

Oh Sega CD... how I remember you. I remember my best friend at the time was trying to sell his Genesis and Sega CD and lent it to me for a month. I begged my parents to let me buy it off him but they said no... I would have had so many awesome games... and Night Trap...

It's nice that people are being vocal about their Sega CD love now. People bashed that system for far too long. There are legitimately amazing games on it ... and Night Trap. :3

Lunar SS, Lunar EB, Vay, Popful Mail, Night Trap and Snatcher are all on my list of pickups.

Oh yeah, Terminator and Lords of Thunder.

My friend lent me his sega CD back in the day. I marathoned Lunar 1 and 2. It started my love affair with all things Working Designs.

Good trade on the Genesis lot. Not sure how much your old laptop was worth but it seems like you got a lot of good stuff out of it.

And yeah the Sega CD gets a bad wrap. I think it is because everyone focuses on the bad FMV games and ignores everything else.

+Sonic CD
+Double Switch (if you are a fan of Night Trap)
+Road Rash (port of the amazing 3DO version)
+Shining Force CD

Android Assault
Silpheed

...

The point is we could make a thread just discussing the fantastic titles available on Sega CD.

If only Sega didn't market it with the FMV games "amazing graphics" ... but it's not like it was the first time Sega lied in that generation ... the Genesis used to say "HIGH DEFINITION GRAPHICS" on it.

Also, Earth World Jim and Heart of the Alien. And Japanese games that never got ported like Shadowrun.

So happy to see some love for Sega CD. I always loved mine. All the games listed above are top notch. Lunar 1/2 and Popful Mail are totally my favorites. I miss you Working Designs!!!

If anyone is into old strategy RPG's I would also recommend Dark Wizard. Also Panic!, which totally isn't for everyone, but is one of the most surreal weirdest experiences I have ever had with a video game.

They immediately started a new localization company GaijinWorks and are gearing up to begin work on their first product on PSP. They have a Kickstarter going for it. 7 Days left on that thing.

(Class of Heroes II for PSP ... first person dungeon crawling)
