Here's what I think, silvers are awesome to play. Especially if you have enough power ups. Silvers with the right power ups are a breeze, just come wave 10 it gets crazy. Where the hell do you see 3 brutes and 2 banshees in the same wave!? Or 5 Phantoms and an Atlas!?

Golds are impossible to play if you don't cooperate, and if you have guys that play the same class, you're fucked.

I hate sentinels that don't use tech shields effectively, these are dudes that fuck up when you get surrounded, detonate that bitch motherfucker.

I've beaten gold twice with a quarian infiltrator. Both times were against Geth so I had a rather large advantage hacking them. You need people with microphones as well. There's nothing more annoying that being assassinated because your partner that's covering your back isn't using a microphone.

Now, spoilers for the ending. Anyone care to discuss?

Spoiler
I wasn't all that satisfied with the ending. It all became almost spiritual, but I have a theory! What if the last part of the game didn't happen? I'm under the belief that everything that happened after Harbinger knocked you out was a dream. Why else would the catalyst AI look just like that little boy from the beginning of the game? I don't see how Shepard could survive the citadel exploding and crash landing on earth. So when you see him take a deep breath at the end? I assume that's him waking up a few hundred feet before the beam of light that travels up to the citadel.

Now you don't see Shepard take a breath if you choose the other two endings right? Whether you control or blend the species together the reapers technically survive and win. So maybe if they get Shepard to choose the other two options it's their way of indoctrinating him? Ugh, I dunno. Stupid kid and stupid choices.

I don't know if anyone is game but here's a event this weekend. Looks sweet enough, I know I'd still be on this in a month so if you're ready to roll out in Silver matches beating them Reapers...I'm game before and after St. Patrick's Day festivities or even tonight at 9pm PST

Quote:
Operation Goliath
Any player who is part of a squad that beats the Reaper faction on Silver difficulty or better will unlock one Commendation Pack. This means that at least one member of the squad must be extracted at the end of the mission – this will earn all squad members the reward. Each player can earn a maximum of one pack and each pack contains a random N7 Arsenal Weapon. Originally only available as single-player weapons via the N7 Collector’s Edition, these multiplayer variants will be exceptionally rare and are NOT obtainable through regular purchasable Reinforcement Packs. The Commendation Packs will contain one of the following guns at random: (1) N7 Crusader Shotgun, (2) N7 Eagle Pistol, (3) N7 Hurricane SMG and (4) N7 Valiant Sniper Rifle.
Destroy as many brutes as possible – if the multiplayer community kills a combined 1 MILLION brutes within the hours of the challenge, ALL players will receive a Victory Pack as a reward.

this is the theory I buy into , there is too much evidence to support it, all the crap with the space god looking like the kid from the dreams, no way shep survives the citadel crashing to earth considering the same exact thing is more or less what killed him dead at the start of 2, also he appears to be laying amongst piles of concrete and rebar, 2 matierals I very seriously doubt ancient all wise alien species used to create the citadel, also the most curious and the thing that bugs the shit out of me, if my squad was with me when I fired the missiles at the reaper, and I assume they were with me right after that when we rushed the beam and got shot by harbinger, how did they end up on the normandy with joker?

would they really end the entire series with a ending so full of plot holes and continuity errors? would they really provide zero closure and zero updates on what is happening to anybody at all besides your 2 squad mates being somewhere they should not and could not be?

Angry Joe from TGWTG and Blistered Thumbs does an excellent job of summarizing and explaining the contradictions, continuity errors, plot holes and flat out misleading statements from the Bioware dev team (looking at you Casey Hudson) regarding 'unparalleled player choice' in how you shape your ending over the three games.

Well I'll be finishing up the story in the next couple of days and then I can join the discussion. People seem to really, really hate the ending so it my curve my expectations going into it.

That being said, if gamers took all the damn hate, protesting over game crap and channeled it towards good causes the world might just be a better place. God, it seems that gamers are getting worse and worse with their sense of entitlement and will go to such extremely lengths to protest/complain about anything.

Agreed.

However, that doesn't mean the endings aren't terrible. I read up on them and even watched a few on Youtube. Good fucking lord, it was Rockstar ending bad.

I'm just getting ready to start the final conflict so I'll have an opinion tomorrow probably.

You're comparing the ending to Rockstar? Hmm.. maybe there's a glimmer of hope because I actually like the endings to some of their games but I'm not holding my breath.

How Rockstar makes an ending:

"GUYS, THE GAME COMES OUT NEXT WEEK AND WE STILL HAVEN'T WRITTEN AN ENDING!"

"QUICK, THINK OF THE MOST CLICHED ENDING YOU CAN! DON'T WORRY ABOUT INCLUDING ANY DETAILS OR MAKE IT FEEL FULFULLING IN ANY WAY, WE DON'T HAVE TIME FOR THAT."

RDR's ending was pretty good, and GTAIV's was alright.

The only outright bad ending to a Rockstar game I can think of is LA Noire, and that's not really a Rockstar game.

RDR and GTA IV's endings felt fitting to the story for me. Especially RDR, I thought it ended perfectlyish (the epilogue was a bit meh but it fit). Didn't like LA Noire's ending but like you said it wasn't Rockstar that did that.

Well I'll see if the ending to ME3 seems fitting... probably not but I'll find out soon enough.

this isnt really a spoiler, but ill tag it anyway.

Spoiler
while the ending may "fit" with the themes / tone of the game in some peoples eyes, there are just sooo many wonky questions and a complete and total lack of an epilogue or closure, not to mention that I personally felt that with the ending / endings playing out as they do and the lack of an epilogue, it really makes it feel like every choice Ive made through out the entire series didn't matter, 6 near identical endings regardless of the choices ive made, and zero follow up showing any of the ramifications of the choices I have made.

this is my main problem with the ending as it is.

I was hoping to beat the game before work today but made it JUST short of doing so as I didn't want to miss my bus and be very late. Met up with a buddy of mine for lunch who was dying to talk about the ending with me so he told me what happened at the very end.

Spoiler
Not as bad as I thought it would be, and watching the video gasline posted pretty much summed up theories I had on what really happened. I was wondering how you would be the only one who survived the Harbinger attack, no sign of you squad mates, and there was no way Anderson got through the beam and got to the control panel before you (unhurt from the attack as well). Then after Anderson dies you're suddenly bleeding in the same place Anderson got shot? Didn't make sense to me and made me think this was going on in your head.

Now if this theory is correct, and I think it is, this means we're going to get the true ending via DLC and that's bullshit. Maybe with all this ending backlash we may get it for free but it's EA... and I don't trust them. So if we want to see the true ending we may have to fork over $10 which is horsehit. Worst part is I'll probably pay it just because I invested so much time into this series and that's what they're banking on. This is what's wrong with this generation of gaming... I am getting so sick of this bullshit and keeps giving me more reasons not to buy into the next gen as it's only going to get worse. I hope I'm wrong and that this backlash from fans gets us this DLC for free as the outcry about having to pay extra for an ending to this game will make people flip out to an even worse scale (which will be pretty impressive as fans have been so damn juvenile it's sad)

Overall, I really enjoyed the game. Not as much as I liked ME2 as I liked the characters more (I did miss Liara though in 2) but 40 hours of playtime flew by. In a couple of weeks when my buddy gives back my copy of ME1 I'll be doing my renegade playthrough of the series.

I sure hope this is the right theory, if what is in the game is the true ending, shit was slapped together with elmers in about 5 minutes, also, how the hell did my squadmates end up on the normandy when they were right in the thick of it with me?

I sure hope it was all a dream / hallucination / indoctrination

Spoiler
it just makes the most sense. Like I said, there's no way in hell Anderson:

a) got into the citadel before you did.

b) there's only one path to the control center so... how did you not see Anderson pass you?

c) how's Anderson completely unhurt after the Harbinger attack yet you're near death.

We all know story DLC is coming and just wait in the coming weeks when Bioware addresses the ending. They said they would as soon as more people beat it. My primary concern is you'll have to pay for the ending DLC which is a big-fat middle finger to gamers.

"Want to see how the trilogy REALLY ends? Buy this add on for only $9.99!"

If that happens I will buy it because I've invested myself in the whole series but I'll be done with the series and most likely any future Bioware games. I can't condone these kinds of DLC practices and, while I knew this would happen eventually by some company, holding an ending to a much-loved RPG trilogy hostage to squeeze more money out of consumers is wrong on so many levels. But I do have a feeling this one piece of DLC will be free just due to the fact the backlash has been so bad for the ME3 ending and it'll get so much worse if they trying charging us for ending DLC. EA and Bioware will lose a lot of fans and the swarm of hate will just be that much greater that if they're smart they'll just give us that one add on and charge us for other DLC.

...*eye twitch*

Wouldn't surprise me with EA involved. But looks like Bioware is already at work on this DLC:

http://kotaku.com/5895215/bioware-is-wo ... t-3-ending

Whatever, great game overall with a WTF just happened last 10-15 minutes. I guess I might jump back into Skyrim while I wait for my buddy to finish ME1 so I can replay the series.
