Hold on to your butts, you're in for a long one

Fallout: New Vegas is a god damn, good game. From start to almost finish, you are once again doing what made Falloud 3 so great. You're bopping around from landmark to landmark, doing what the Lone Wanderer did best. It's so much fun going from one place to another, only to constantly deviate left and right to explore something that might be something off in the distance. Then getting there and finding an abandoned building with loads of nooks and crannies to raid. Not to mention the story, which keeps you interested from the get-go!
But, my god, man! So many fucking glitches. Not game breakers. But I would have assumed these would have been fixed with the forced install. Fuck me, the amount of glitches is mind boggling. The sound shits out all the time, the friendly NPC's tend to run the fuck away from the courier with no good reason, Deathclaw's randomly pop up too late, getting my ass killed almost instantly, the grabbing of guns suddenly happens underhanded, the guns are put away a good meter from the character away, the game freezes like mad, sometimes even wiping ALL AUTO-SAVES SO THAT I AM FORCED TO REPLAY A FUCKING HOUR.
And then there's the shitty as all hell ending. The entire game long you are handed several options, so that whatever happens, happens just like you want it to be. Or happens because how you wanted it to go didn't work (speech to low or something). But now, suddenly, every option is a shitty one, but you can think of a million better options. THe way I played it, I had no choice in the matter with the NCR questline. I had to do as they asked because I had already burned the peace bridge by doing a quest a certain way for the brotherhood of steel. And not to mention that going with Skynet, in the end, was also a one way line as I was hoping to turn that thing off at one point. But, nooooooooooooooooooooooooo. FFS, my science skill was 100, I CAN HACK THAT THING AND TURN IT OFF.

Still, best game I played all year and that includes Mass Effect 2 and Dragon Age 2.

Beat it over the weekend. Did the NCR route. I mean, pretty cool but Fallout 3 sort of killed the "holy shit this game is amazing" factor for me. Nothing wrong with more Fallout 3, but it really was just Fallout 3 with some branching storyline, more weapon options and shit. Wash, rinse, repeat but I'll take it.

I really need to finish this game. Thankfully after infamous 2 there's a large lgap between releases before the fall-smack-you-in-the-face-with-awesomeness releases so I'll finish it up this summer. I'm doing pretty much every side mission I come across too.. so it's taking me a very long time to finish my first playthrough.

Started to, but then I found some glitches where some quests interfered with being able to activate others (would get 2 of 4 goals finished but due to some other mission goal 3 couldn't be finished). At that point I said fuck it and just ran the table. I had barely started the main line at that point but since I was at about level 25 and had some maxed out skills it was a cakewalk.

But I agree, you should finish the game, it is worth it.

Yeah I intend to. I had been playing it a lot a month ago... and I mean a hell of a lot but felt I needed a brel from the game. It's a great game and I'll finish up my playthrough as soon as I'm done with the current games I'm playing.

As for the DLC, I really have no interest in it. I still haven't finished all the DLC in Fallout 3 yet...

Agreed. I did most of the DLC in Fallout 3 and found that none of it held a candle to the main game. The Pitt was interesting but way too glitchy - locked up all the time. The UFO was just a FPS, no real questing in it. Operation Anchorage was bullshit and Point Lookout was decent at best. Never did the Brotherhood of Steel and probably never will.

Brotherhood of Steel is by far the best DLC that came out for Fallout 3. I can't say that I played the other DLC's aside from The Pitt. I recommend getting it.

Anchorage was garbage and I made the mistake of playing it a second time to get more XP... I like the Pitt and had no issues with it and Brotherhood continues the main story and adds more difficult enemies like those new asshole Super Mutants that have almost as much health as the behmoths. I need to finish that as well but... I'm still on my second play of Anchorage and it's just such a grind...

I had the most fun with Point Lookout (or Lookout Pont?). Mutant hillbillys are always fun.

Didn't like this game.

When I look out into the horizon I see desert....

In fallout 3 when I look out into the horizon I see lots of shit and it definitely looks like a fucking bomb went off everywhere. So cool...

Damn I really need to finish this game (I know I've said that a lot in this thread). I realy enjoy it but I have to agree it's not as memorable as Fallout 3 which I've probably sunk at least 100 hours into. But what I like in New Vegas are all the nods and cameos to the previous games. I'm sure if I pick it up again I'll get sucked right in but I have a big list of games I'm playing it's hard to jump back into a game that's so time consuming.

I'm looking forward to the next Fallout game being more awesome with Bethesda's new game engine they're introducing with Skyrim.
