Why did you have to rearrange everything so that now I can find nothing?

You used to have new releases clearly visable in front of the movie section. Now they are on some side shelf mixed in with games, music, and whatever else you wanted to feature.

But the more important problem is you cut your movie section in half! Then the music section has been reduced even further to two measly aisles. It is so cluttered and unorganized why even bother having it at all?

I get it, you want to sell cell phones, but that section does not need to eat up a quarter of the store. Do you really need wall to wall tvs sets along the entire store?

Guess I am going to need to find a new place for movies and music cause you just don't cut it anymore.

That is the problem don't put it at the front of the store or in some endcap or who knows where, but the movies in the movie section.

With digital distribution on the rise profits from physical media are getting slimmer so shelf space will be used for what sells. Obviously this is a region by region variable so maybe in your market they have noticed a sharp decline in movie/music sales. I'll be honest, between streaming on Netflix and finding 10$ new releases on Amazon, I can't remember the last time I went to Best Buy for a movie. Actually, the last time I actually bought anything at Best Buy was Guild Wars Trilogy over a year ago. The time before that was Final Fantasy Anthology during a Christmas sale.

I don't shop there anymore. Invisible Wal-Mart company. Like Bed, Bath and Beyond.

They probably did it so you'll buy it after the long search, even though it's priced higher than it ought to be.

Good point there too, there are pretty pricey on items that they have control over the price of.

This happened with our Best Buy too. We couldn't find jack shit, which sucked because we wanted to buy a fucking iPad and spent like 10 minutes searching the whole store for a prominent product that should clearly be on display. I know most of the employees only stick around and work there for the discounts since everything is done back asswards.

That sucks, I have 2 best buys pretty close to me and they haven't changed like at all. The music section in both is as long as they have been. Granted the stores are huge, one of them has 2 levels, so I imagine that is a reason why they don't have to condense as much.

The only one I know in the area that's two floors is in Paramus.

I find it weird that every Best Buy I go to now sets up a fold out table with a blue table cloth out as soon as you walk in with the new dvds, blu-rays and cds that are really popular. It looks lazy.

What annoyed me though recently was I went to look for a hard drive that supported Firewire 800, was at least 1Tb, and was under $250. Three different Best Buys and nothing. I found and awesome G-Technology drive but they only had a 2Tb drive that was $300. I get home to check Amazon and the same drive is $224 so ordered it with free shipping.

Oh and the Rewards Zone sucks if you ask me.

The Best Buy next to my house doesn't want you to buy PC games.

The shoved it into the VERY back of the store in one makeshift isle that isn't even wide enough to bend over in and, yes, all the games are close to the floor.

I went in there today, because I wanted to pre-order MK9KE, sold out at GameStop, and the only way to pre-order (apparently) at a Best Buy is by using their pre-order kiosk ... which was frozen. I left and came back over an hour later and they STILL hadn't rebooted the kiosk and just told me "well sorry, there's no other way to pre-order in the store".

I'm getting pretty tired of this entire overcharging shitty service chain!

And I agree, it's nearly freaking impossible to find anything in the store. I remember when they had Saving Private Ryan on BluRay on sale, I went in to get it, took me a solid 15 minutes in the BluRay section to find it. Not even organized.

Also, the gaming Kiosk ... there's only one in the store and it's in the back of the game section and there's just signs everywhere telling you to use it without telling you WHERE it is.

Yeah, the Paramus one is the one I was talking about. Also, the Secaucus one is pretty big as well as the West Patterson one is a decent size.

I don't sign up for anything like that with the exception of the edge card a while back, but that has expired. Now gamestop/eb have this new program. I asked the guy to tell me about it and he literally had no idea how it worked. He was like buy new games and get points. I was like how many points do you get for a new game? How many points do you need to get money off a new game? He just stared blankly at me and said, "Those are good questions"

I don't have a problem with all those stupid cards, like... whatever. If you want to mail me a coupon because I eventually spend 100 dollars at your store, great. That being said, I haven't checked that gamestop site since I registered. I think you could take surveys and other dumb shit to earn points to put towards stuff. It still works as the "%age off on games and subscription to GameInformer" though so I kept with it.

the new program at EB / gamestop is basically still the same old edge card except now on top of the used / trade in discount you get points for everything you buy / sell / trade, I mostly got it for the discount, though I did cash in a few points for a mario key chain, it seems like the points do add up pretty quickly though, and you can get some decent amounts of games etc.

more on topic, fuck best buy, I never cared for best buy anyway , never liked the layout of the store even back 10 years ago, and the one experience I did have with them was a complete fucking nightmare.

9 or so years ago me and my buddy went there, and they had this ( for the time ) really nice computer that was 1,500 dollars on some sort of super sale for 600 with a 900 dollar rebate, it was too good of a deal to pass up, so I buy one, and the guy takes me and my new computer up front, prints out all of the paper work and receipts and forms I need to get my 900 dollar rebate.

I go home, fill out everything, have it double checked to make sure its right and send it in, 6 weeks later I get a letter from best buy telling me that the sale did not start until the day after I bought the computer ( bought it oct 13th sale started the 14th ), and they could not honor my rebate, I called them and was told sorry there is nothing they can do.

so I went down to the store with all my paper work and raised some serious hell, everyone I talked to said they could not help me there was nothing they could do, after THREE HOURS they called in the area / zone manager who I explained to, if the sale did not start until the next day, why were all the signs out, why did the employee tell me the sale was effective and a great deal, why did the computer print out all the paper work and not say whoa the sale hasn't started yet, he once again told me there was nothing he could do, and obviously I pressed the issue some more, and finally he agreed to give me my 900 dollars in cash on the spot if I would just leave the store and quit making a scene.

last time I ever stepped foot into a best buy, and probably the last time I ever will.

one last thing, am I the only person who every time he sees or hears about a best buy thinks of this?

Best Buy usually has some killer deals on new releases. Blu rays/dvds are usually at least $5 off whatever every place else is selling it for. New release cds are $10. But they usually only have those prices the first week or two and after that the price goes up. Plus it is close enough I can swing in their during my lunch break and still have time to look around.

Of course I could spend 30-45 mins to drive into town or hit up some second hand stores way out west, but I'm not going to do that on a weekly basis if something I know I want is coming out.

FYE is still around? Ours closed forever ago. They never dropped their prices on anything.
