Ok guys, a few comments on this show:

1) Fallout 3 came out in '08 and wasn't up for the awards last year because it was on '09 games.

2) Screw you guys, Portal 2 will be awesome but I'm with you that Gears of War 3 can eat it and I'm super excited for Arkham City.

3) Tom, I'm warning you, Shattered Dimensions was probably the worst game I've played this year. For all my reasons of why it's terrible look at the topic in Multiplatform Gaming.

4) Tom, buy Uncharted 2 now!!

5) Just to be curious, how many 360 exclusives came out last year? Only ones I can think of is Mass Effect 2 and Metro 2033. Just to counter argue your PS3 exclusive talk.

6) Mike, you have just made a powerful enemy for saying Soundgarden sucks... I would watch my back if I were you...

7) Jason, I'm with Mike and Blur's awesome. Single player's meh but the mutliplayer is one of the best from this year. It's set up like COD where you have "perks" challenges which gets you extra points to level up and unlock more cars and perks. Very sad Bizarre could be closing because I really want more support for Blur. The game's very underrated and if you haven't tried it you should. At least the online as it's a blast.

There were more points I wanted to make on this week's topic, but they seem to have slipped my mind.

I'm curious to watch the VGA's this year to see if Reach does win anything, thus proving it's a competition of who can pay the most for their win.

C'mon guys... Soundgarden really had only like three really good songs. Soundgarden was Deep Purple to Nirvana's Led Zeppelin.



Yeah, I'd have to agree, Portal 2 is going to be a blast... but I see where Birdman is coming from. I will never like Team Fortress 2 for the exact same reason, its been ruined for me because of oversaturation.

But about Halo 3 winning a contest sponsored by Halo 3, I knew it was going to win when the nominees were announced. It usually boils down to whatever game gets the most hype and marketing dollars, like Birdman said. I kinda wish there was a serious awards ceremony, I'd like to see video games get the recognition for being the newest and most pervasive form of creative storytelling they deserve.

What I'd like to see is the Game Heroes hold their own awards...

There are probably quite a few I left out, notably games made for the Kinnect and Move which niether have yet to appeal to me. I don't know why every single time the PS3 is mentioned Tom's answer is "where are all the games" when most of the biggest titles of the year are multi platform. If it was all about exclusives then the Wii is obviously the best console to own

For the record I have a 360, PS3 and a Wii. Depending on what kind of mood I'm in factor's into which console I play. For the most part I pick up fighting games for the PS3 because it not only do I prefer the PS3 controller for them, but also because I I have two tournament fight sticks for it. For anything else its usually a coin toss because I have friends who only have PS3s and my girlfriend who only has a 360; that and the games I tend to buy end up on both consoles anyway.

With that said for this year my top 5 of this year:

3. Starcraft 2
4. God of War III
5. Alan Wake

Ugh... AFI hasn't released a good album in almost 10 years (probably 7 or 8). Their stuff keeps sounding more and more like pop rock. Any fan of rock and roll will tell you Soundgarden > AFI.

As for "Valve getting lucky with Portal" I can tell you those guys plan their games out extremely well. Don't see them losing quality in Portal 2.

And Danimal, I can kinda understand what you're talking about with TF2. When the game first came out I had an old PC that couldn't run anything so I ignored all the hype, videos etc. Got a new PC in Sept., got TF2 and have been addicted ever since. Same thing with Portal I guess, but I just ignored all the people hyping the game, played it and loved it. I just suggest try your best to ignore the fools who hype these games up, try it for yourself and see. Seriously, TF2 is probably the game I play the most right now and I can't stop playing.

I don't blame them for not putting Gran Turismo on the nomination list seeing as that game's release date was very shaky. First it's pushed back then all of a sudden it's coming out tomorrow. It's Sony's fault for changing the release date.

Seeing as how they nominated Donkey Kong Country Returns which comes out like 3 days before GT5 I don't think that's an issue.

Donkey Kong Country Returns had the date set for Nov. 21 a few months before release. When GT5 was pushed back in October it wasn't given a specific date a first. Chance are by the time Sony gave the date the nominations were finalized for all we knew the game was coming out next year.

Get me a ticket too and I'll forget the Soundgarden comment.

Thanks, Sheep I knew there were more exclusives but I went blank on the call in. As for the VGAs, very interesting discussion. Last year was interesting since you could vote online. I will not vote until I play Donkey Kong Country Returns because that is one category I'm stumped in.
