That's the title. There's no Riddler. There's no Mr. Freeze. I could've sworn he also said no Penguin at one point in time, but I could be wrong, and no Robin (which makes me assume there's no Batgirl.) No Joker because of Ledger's death, and Two-Face was confirmed to be dead as well, so he didn't survive that fall.

Potential GOOD rogues are really dwindling. I mean, honestly... what the fuck do we have to choose from?

Poison Ivy
Mad Hatter
Killer Croc
Man-Bat
Clayface
The Ventriloquist
Clock King
Killer Moth
Catwoman
Hush

Like... that's the fucking list. I could see them going with Killer Croc as a "freakshow" guy with weird skin and filed teeth and not a full blown lizard man, but... is that enough to hold a movie on your own? Not really, he's just a low level grunt character.

My personal guess, although it will probably be off, is just because of Nolan's love for the Year One universe, that he'll take some sort of hybrid of Calendar Man & Holiday from Long Halloween. I can't think of any villain from the above list who could majorly draw out the plot and/or be a huge threat to Gotham except perhaps Ivy.

An alternative would be Clayface ruining Bruce Wayne's name by posing as him via plastic surgery or something, or Man-Bat being confused with Batman and Batman clearing his name. Those would be the only other plots I could vaguely see as possibilities at this moment.

Kinda glad they're not going with the Riddler. Been done before, better to have a new villain (yes I'm aware the Joker's been done twice now too but being Batman's main villain and Ledger's performance being totally original for the character I of course let that one pass).

I think Hush might be a good pick too for the next villain with a Nolan-ish twist on the character.

call me crazy, and I have no basis for this, I just have this funny feeling that we will be seeing Ra's al Ghul again in this movie, not sure why, just a hunch.

Nope. I wouldn't buy that for a second, Thomas Elliott needed to be in the first or at least second movie, but to shoe horn him into the third movie like Loeb did with the comics is just a bad idea. "Oh boy, my long lost best friend who has never been mentioned before just showed up. Oh geez, some mummy wrapped guy is trying to kill me and knows important details about my personal life. Herp-a-derp I wonder who it could be! OH SHIT! IT WAS MY BEST FRIEND WHO WAS RETCONNED OUT OF THIN AIR! I DID NOT SEE THAT COMING!" That's just my take on the whole thing.

Also, they could've done something new and original with The Riddler too. I mean, Jim Carrey was instructed to focus the role more as an "Adam West" sort of Riddler, so it was already far from the source material. I always point this out, but... Interview Tape #1 really proves how it could've been different and fit in Nolan's dark universe.

Not to be a whiner, but I think Ra's al Ghul is one of the most boring of the Batman villains. I mean, his only MAIN importance is that he trained him to fight and he uses these pits to bring dead people back to life.

Well did he not mention that we'd see someone from the previous two films make at least an appearance so. Scarecrow or zsasz. What about Black Mask as the new villain. Inspired by Batman he becomes the evil equivalent of him, also framing him further for crimes after he's blamed for Dents death.

Yeah, I almost forgot about him since he's sort of a "new kid on the block" in the rogue gallery.

Man. Not liking this news. but it'll be interesting to see what they'll do with what they decide on. I feel a Catwoman comin in though.. Hopefully Halley Berry stays away.

Black Mask would be great.

Also, Ra's is cool in my book, he actually has a lot of depth to him. Remember Tower of Babel? He can be a great villain. I just don't like Nolan-verse Ra's, he bores me.

actually an entirely new villain might not be a bad idea, or at the very lease a mash up of the concepts of 2 villains into 1 new villain, kind of like iron man 2 did with whiplash / crimson dynamo.

Scarecrow could possibly return for a third time? This time actually taking full control of Gotham instead of being a sidekick or goon...

I'm kinda glad he's not going for the obvious choices, that's pure Nolan for ya. I'm also very happy there's no 3D. Also TOM HARDY is in it! Fuck yes! Eames in Inception and was amazing in Bronson and a British TV mini-series The Take.

BTW if not Scarecrow, I'm still going with Deadshot...

I won't be happy to see Deadshot till I see his five insane coworkers from The Secret Six.

Take off your "I'm a big Scarecrow fanboy" sunglasses. It's clouding your vision, 'cuz I highly doubt that would happen.

My gut instinct tells me Nolan won't be revisiting previously used villains like Ivy & Catwoman. The fact they use the term "Rise" in the name makes me think Ra's has a huge chance to make it in, Rise = Rise from the Grave = Lazarus Pit. But, on that same coin it could also MAYBE be Two-Face. Nolan has made it sound like a lot of the characters in this movie will be characters from the previous 2 movies.

Sunglasses off.

Sunglasses on.

The main reason I'm going with Deadshot here is because the guy is suicidal and it seems fitting that Batman will have to kill someone like this for the final installment. Deadshot isn't after Gotham, he's gunning for Batman and that makes it personal...

David Caruso sunglasses on.

The name is just upsettingly ridiculous if you ask me. And no Riddler? It's a real shame, if you ask me. But, it could mean that Nolan is going for something special. Like perhaps Harley Quinn coming to Gotham to gather up all the remaining rogues for one final clash with Batman to try and get The Joker out of Arkham.

Batman versus the rogues, batman versus the city, Bruce Wayne versus Batman, Harley Quinn versus Harleen Quinzell. Could be very interesting.

Except The Joker wouldn't be in it. I think Nolan has already stated there won't be any Joker stuff or replacements because of Ledger's death. It could've been an original plot to bring him back, but... not now. Plus, my gut instinct makes me think that Harley Quinn is a little too comic booky and gimmicky, she would've been in the 2nd movie or at least mentioned if that was the intention.

Hey guys, I remembered something.

The guy who made Inception and The Dark Knight is making this and doesn't have too much studio interference down his neck.

I think no matter what we say, this is gonna be pretty damn good.

The Joker doesn't have to be in it at all, really. And she didn't have to be mentioned because, well, The Joker came out of nowhere so then why would anyone know about Harleen Quinzel?
