I think we're getting a demo in the store in a few days, can't wait to try it out. I'm very anti-Wii, however the gameplay footage I've seen of fight looks pretty promising, and a couple of the sports games look cool. Hopefully it won't let me down.

You cannot fathom the effort it's taking to not start a flame war over that.

I think any form of motion controlled video games is lame. video games are meant to be played with a controller, end of story.

I think I might be amongst a select few people that don't get all fan boyish and elitist over game systems. I play whatever games catch my fancy for whatever systems I have at the time which as of right now is an xbox 360.

I can fathom it, becuase people argue with me about it all the time. Listen I get it, some people like the wii. Some people enjoy waving their arms around like a jackass for every single game they play. Not me, the only games that ARE good on the wii are games like Zelda, Metroid, etc.. which I'd rather play with a regular controller. All the other games are the interactive style games which are fun for about a day, then I never want to play another one again.

The move has a little more potential becuase of the 1:1 motion and the addition of the eye allowing the system to track your entire body. This is what I imagined the original Wii to play like, and sadly I was let down.

And before someone calls me out as a naysayer, I'm not saying it's any better or worse, I just think that picture is fucking hysterical.

Heh, even though I love the Kevin Butler commercials, it's assinine that they poke fun at the wii when clearly the Move is completely based on the wii design, just enhanced a bit. Also, it does totally look like a dildo.

I said before that I don't care for motion controls but I do think that every console has something great to offer, including the wii. I do plan on getting a wii someday because of it's huge library of classic Nintendo games (and even Sega) on the virtual console. also, there seems to be enough good games to keep die hard Nintendo fans around. I played super mario galaxy 2 at a friends house the other day and i have to say it was super fun.

I'm not sure where this "waggling the controller like a jackass" concept came into play. Honestly, not EVERY Wii game is like that. Other games just make use of the motion control for pointing/clicking and other types of movements which are a LOT better with a Wii Controller than an analog stick. For example... AIMING. I would MUCH rather have an arcade experience rather than a controller experience in regards to aiming a weapon. Drawing images and other stuff is also a lot better on the Wii/DS than it would be without touch/motion.

I think everyone who jumps on the "Anti-Wii" bandwagon is a jackass for one reason or another, usually because they get all "It has no games" or "lol waggle" or whatever. It's like... are you all just playing Wii Sports and Carnival Games and 3rd party ports and not touching any of the ACTUAL Wii-Built games?

For example, Trauma Center is an amazing fucking game on the Wii and I don't care what anyone says. If it was on any other console that relied on a controller as opposed to motion or touch it would suck ass, because controllers are lame and boring and don't rely on things like stable hands or accuracy.

Another good example is pretty much any rail shooter or game that involves shooting someone. There's a reason they remade all the Primes for the Wii, and it's not because people thought Metroid Prime 3 had terrible controls, that's for sure. Same goes with Resident Evil 4, I know TONS of people who swear by RE4 being superior to the console version.

Try to be a little more open minded about this type of technology. Everybody said the DS was the stupidest fucking thing ever when it was first announced, and even during it's first year it was still "iffy" technology. Then games like Kirby's Canvas Curse came out and people finally GOT it. They realized the types of things you could do with a touch screen that would not be as fun with a D-Pad. The same thing goes for the Wii, there are titles that work extremely well on the Wii and then there are titles that don't. Some developers get it, and others don't and just treat it like every other system and make half-assed use of the technology.

The downside to the Wii is that there ISN'T an option to not be motion controlled. Well, there is, but it's primary controller is motion control. The benefit of the 360 and PS3 is that these games will be BUILT for Kinect or Move, and so (hopefully) the developers will be making good use of the technology because they want to develop for that platform instead of being FORCED to make use of the technology because it's the only way to get their game on that console.

With all of that being said, tell me that this DOESN'T look like it could be a lot of fun if it's played as how it's shown (skip to 1:05 if you have a short attention span):

I mean, shit, I would LOVE any game that made it feel like I was shooting fucking laser beams out of my hands at things.

It's becuase you do waggle the controller like a jackass for 90% of the games on the Wii. Sure there are some games that are done well and the motion controller is really the best option. Unfortunately I usually hate those games. Trauma Center? Really? Maybe it's gotten better since the last time I played it (only playedthe DS version), but all that game was an advanced version of Operation. Pull the glass out, sew it up, disinfect. Sure there are some other operations you do, but it all comes down to just moving in a pattern, which I find boring.

Rail shooters are FPS's retarded cousin, sure they're fun sometimes, but it's just point and click and that too gets insanely repetetive. There's a reason why there's only like 5 rail shooters and 500,000 FPS games. Rail shooters are the only shooters that the Wii does well, any regular FPS type game that I've played was absolute crap becuase being able to aim the reticle was cool and all, but havingto scroll it to the right side of the screen to turn yourself was crappy. Nothing beats mouse and keyboard for a shooter, period.

Again, I know there are some good games on the Wii, I'm just saying that 90% of them are garbage and made for old women with cats for friends, and little kids that don't know any better. Also, for those of you that love the thousands of mario, zelda, and metroid remakes it's a great console. (not that I hate them, but I wish nintendo would start putting more effort into originality.)

I can agree with that, as I said, some developpers know how to make a game for the wii, others don't.

Personally, I would say the Wii Resident Evil games have all been MILES above and beyond Resident Evil 5 in terms of quality and fun. Rail Shooters have always been the highlights of the arcade imho, and I'm not sure why people hate on them so much for a console. Maybe because they're not FPS or whatever, but they're still a lot of fun, and even pointing and clicking takes skill, particularly in Resident Evil where headshots are pretty much required in order to get through certain parts of the game.

I've also been a long time Trauma Center fan, sure it's Operation, but even operation takes skill with not hitting the buzzer, and the added rankings and hi scores and stuff make it a really good "arcade" game. It's a game where you need to be all over the place, strategy, multitasking, and having a steady hand all at the same time. It's a game that keeps you on edge and the adrenaline pumping during some of the tougher operations and scenarios. I think Trauma Center is most likely best experienced on the wii as opposed to the DS.

I truly do get the Wii hate sometimes, and other times it just blows my mind. Yes, I haven't played my Wii in months, but when I do dust the console off it's a lot of fun and usually for a really entertaining game made exclusively for the Wii and not a half-ass port or casual game. I have a lot of faith in the Wii's upcoming line up, and I have a feeling it's going to be very "too little too late" for a lot of people, but I'm personally really excited about things like Epic Yarn for example.

Oh, fuck this.

What you said.

Nintendo makes the best stuff on the system, and everyone just ignores the best of the third party games. Did anyone play Little King's Story or Madworld?

Also, news flash:

Sturgen's Law. 90% of everything is shit. No exceptions, and we usually just block out the shit.

Yes I have played Madworld, it's O.K. Nothing to get excited about. Really? Going to bring Sturgeon's law into this? Come on now, not only is it just a pessimistic view on life, but it's easily disproven, and I won't get into that because it's really not worth it.

Let's play devil's advocate and say you're right, that 90% of the PS3 games out there are crap. Even if that were true(which clearly it is not), the games that are good are PHENOMINAL. There is not a single game on the Wii that made me say “Man, I’m glad I bought this system.” On the PS3 and Xbox, you have games like God of War, Uncharted, Mass Effect, Halo (only story mode for me), Dead Rising, Dead Space (The Wii version is of course a rail shooter, and it was cool, but nothing compared to PS3 or X360), Resident Evil, Army of Two, Fallout, Red Faction, Little Big Planet, MGS, Street Fighter 4, Resistance, etc. I could go on for a long time. These games made me appreciate the fact that I went out and spent $600 of my hard earned cash on my system.

The Wii has Zelda (which I preferred the GameCube version of), Metroid (still prefer the SNES version), and Mario (fun… but I find myself bored a few hours into it). Sure you can throw in a few other games in there, but none of them (including the Zelda, Metroid and Mario games) really amazed me, they were just enjoyable. When I’m playing Uncharted 2, I have an enormous gaming boner pretty much the whole time. The ONLY game that really peaked my interest on the Wii is Monster Hunter, which I have not had a chance to play yet. Uncharted 1 &2, and God of War are near flawless games, the wii in general (and especially in that genre) has nothing that even comes close to those games. Hell, I’d rather play any of my PS2 games over a good majority of the Wii games out there.

Again, this is just my opinion, maybe to you Carnival Games is just as awesome as God of War is to me. Perhaps you and every other middle-aged woman love playing samba de amigo in your living room for hours on end. No, I kid, I kid, I know you like backyard baseball. :D

I'll end up getting The Move eventually just because it's something different for the PS3. I have a Wii, but I hardly play it because of the bad online and there are about only 5 games I like to play on it. The Move could be something really good, but I am still waiting for more games to wow me before I fully commit to getting it right away. Each console have their own thing. I would get Kinect if I had a 360, but not at the price they are offering. Might get a bundle with it if I find the price reasonable. In all fairness, to each his own. A bit too much is being made out of these motion controls since most of us will end up playing most games with standard controllers.
