The theory made perfect sense for me since FFVIII had tons of WTF moments, the plot twists were too convenient IMO. I know its not official and all but I'll take this explanation any day.

I don't buy it. This is just like the whole: Rinoa is Ultimicia theory, which only seemed slightly more plausible in my opinion.

Really interesting reading. I remember feeling something was very off with the story in FFVIII when playing it, and the first time I saw the ending I really thought Squall was dead. This theory makes the story much more interesting. I'm gonna choose to believe it just because of that.

Oh, and that picture of faceless Squall sure is the stuff of nightmares.

I was a big fan of the PS FF games 8 happened to be my favorite.
I even bought myself a gunblade at a con.

To accept this theory would be to push the writing staff into the fantastical, this theory talks about hints so subtle and heavily reliant on perspective that it seems crazy to me.

Reminds me of the plot of the FFX games. Everything seemed normal. They implied he traveled through time or space or something. Then the big trademark FF plot twist takes its toll... ooOoOo he was a ghost from the awesome futuristic maybe past, who played water soccer ooOOOoOoo fear his l33t sword skills obtained... as soon as he picks up a sword for the maybe first time in his life.

7,8 (if this is true), and 10 had some pretty fucked up stories. But at least they were held up the final aspect... until Square pumped out unnecessary sequels and offshoots. (to 7 and 10)


Either way i like the WYSIWYG look at it. Squal took a near fatal hit and survivied. The rest is just special effects and maybe symbolic cinematography. Either way this remains my favorite FF.

Lotta talk about remaking 7 on kotaku, said it could take a few years to remake it properly.

Would you wait a full development cycle for a brand new FF7? Or would you rather see a FF14 sooner?
Personally i would rather see them redo 6,7,8, maybe 9 up to modern standards of interaction and the like than see them pump out more uninteresting sequels 14,15,16 (one or 2 of them you know would be an MMO sequel to FF11)

Agreed. I would give my left pinky finger for a complete remake of VII or VI. I think IX still does the trick, so that one doesn't really need a remake imo.
I've sort of lost interest in the new FF games, they're just too much about the haircuts. I'm going to play XIII, but I'll probably wait until the price drops. There are a lot of things that bug me about it. Like the names. Snow and Lightning... what were they thinking!?
