I thought Dead Space was the best survival horror game of this conole generation and now they're going to turn it into an action shooter? Seriously, they better be blowing smoke on this or they'll have a lot of angry gamers on their asses.

I think the lowest score I saw for RE5 was on X-Play (3 out of 5). I actually got Dead Space pretty late and I loved it, it was actually after I played RE5 and it was the first time I had a good scare in awhile. Now they're gonna mess it up, perfect.

Eventually, people are going to see through the shiny graphics and "franchise" names and notice most of the "big name" games released today are nothing more than mediocre.

Welp, this might just be another game I'm gonna have to cross out on my "To Buy" list. I really don't understand why they would want to do this. Dead Space had a hybrid of a formula, but it brought some great scares and some great action with it as well, and it didn't overburden you with it's action. It was a superb combination of scares and thrills. The survival horror enthusiastic as myself, loved the game for what it was.

But this is where the game starts to really lose interest. I loved traveling through Dead Space's environment for the scares and the atmosphere the game had. There was always that feeling you knew something was going to pop out, and when it happened you would slap it like a silly bitch and run away to either shoot or find the nearest exit door. Now I'm just going to be a fucking steam roller making fine pancakes out of everything that comes at me. And I'm sure after I beat the game I can buy myself some spikes and flamethrowers to enhance the repetitive action sequenced gameplay that will commence after.

But this won't happen until one quarter of the first play through is done, and I start off with one weapon until I find that one "Uber Weapon" making everything obsolete and easy. Unless they bring back those little spider bastards from the first. Hate those things, they were the only ones who made the flamethrower useful.

I loved the first so I'll still check out the sequel, I read a preview of it in that magazine that had the first picture of it (Issac sorta jumping back firing a plasma cutter) and from reading that I was sorta interested by it,
yes Capcom fucked up with Resident Evil 5 in terms of the franchise as a whole, but I don't think Dead Space 2 will be that far off from the first

from what I originally read, they are going to fix some of the pacing issues , instead of ALWAYS being on the ropes, sometimes you feel safe, sometimes you feel like your a bad ass who could take on the world, and some times you feel like you did in the first game.

hopefully this quote here is from a witless nitwit who just worded his explanation poorly, RE5 was pretty far off the mark, and everyone ( now ) pretty much agrees with that, and they also all pretty much agree Dead Space is the new vanguard series for fans of true survival horror , I cant see them throwing that all away to walk down RE5s mediocre and squandered path.

actually, yes I can see them doing that, RE5 was the best selling game in the franchise and money talks, so I guess all we can do is clench our assholes, cross our fingers, and hope they don't fuck this game up.

I REALLY hope you're right (about the pacing), but we are talking about EA. Well this game for me went from a day 1 buy to a rent. We shall see once more info gets released, but my focus has moved away from Dead Space to New Vegas!

How many action shooters are in the market now? What made Dead Space great was the atmosphere. You were alone in a spaceship, surrounded by death and the unknown creaters killing everything and turning them into creatures like them. You weren't a space marine, combat specialist, you were a engineer. That's what I loved about the orginal (and I don't think I'm alone here) and now they're focusing on the action? Doesn't sit well with me and it just sounds like they're trying to cash in on they way over crowded shooter market. Once again, I'll wait until more information is released but this seems like a typical EA dick move to me.

And Extraction was honestly not that bad.

I have a problem with "survival horror" as a genre because most of those types of games do a shitty job of making it tough to survive and do little to scare me.

I think a more accurate label for the RE series is "boring shooting of slow things."
