So, when/if there's an NHL season, did we want to do a hockey pool again?

I guess. I don't see a problem with it.

Maybe we should take a pool on if there's going to be a season or not.

My guess is the season starts in December. I think we'll miss 2 months of the season. Hopefully that's all...

Ok we have Capt Chuckles in for the pool! Seven, you in again?

My guess was that the season starts in November, but I was being a bit optimistic. I was hoping that an agreement was hashed out sometime between now and October. We'll just have to wait I guess.

P.S. Go Red Wings!!!

Stevie Y in my opinion was the greatest captain the NHL has ever seen. Mind you, I do have blinders on as he's from my hometown and went to my high school but... the man was a machine and did everything he could to get his team to win. Knees? Don't need those in the playoffs? Shoulders? Those are for kids too. The man played through everything and didn't whimper at all. Next closest guy like that I can think of is Daniel Alfredsson, but once again I have the "Ottawa" blinders on lol.

Lol it's just hometown pride. I was born in Bad Axe, Michigan, and I lived in Michigan for a little while. So being a Red Wings fan was kinda natural to me (of course having a Canadian great-great grandmother might have helped a little too).

If you're talking about Steve Yzerman, then I have to agree with you. Steve Yzerman is THE MAN, and one of the best captains that the NHL has ever seen IMO. The man played through bad knees, shoulders, a broken eye socket, etc. Along with The Russian Five and Brett Hull, Yzerman played the main rold of bringing Detroit out of the "Dead Wing" era and brought the Cup back to Hockey Town.

I hope the Red Wings do well this year and make it to the playoffs. They lost Lidstrom last year, and there's a lot of questions about this year's team.

Yeah I'm talking about Steve Yzerman. I used to have Detroit as my 2B team, but then they picked up Brett Hull and Domenic Hasek who I hated... especially Hasek... Now that they're gone I like them again.

Well I'm glad, I guess.

Excellent... it's all falling into place...

Did we want to do a money pool again ($10) or just for fun? I still have to ask my other contacts from last year.

The way we did it last year was you could buy in or just play for free if you want. However, if you don't buy in and you win the pool you don't get claim to the money. It'll then go to the person who placed the highest who paid in.

My girlfriend (last year's champ) and two more people from last year are both in as well as another buddy of mine so right now we have 7 confirmed. I'm going to send out a mass message to everyone from last year as well as people who just missed the cut off time for the online draft.

That works for me.

I can't believe there is a threat of another lockout. Didn't they just have one of these? What is the problem this time?!

They did, like 7 or 8 years ago. This time it's mostly about revenue sharing. It's really stupid.

What's wrong with what they're making now. They make more in 60 minutes than I do in a month.

Well the players have a 57% stake in revenue sharing, the league wants to bring that down to around 42-46% as owners don't want to flip the bill for all the struggling teams in the league. Basically both sides are acting like children over stuff I don't think will make that much of a difference in the long run, especially if there's a prolonged lockout. The NHL will lose all the traction it gained since the last one if they do. Both sides need to sit in a room together and not leave until they hammer out a fair deal as this is just stupid.

That, my Canadian friend, is something that I have to agree with. As far as struggling teams go, they should move them to different venues like Seattle, Las Vegas, Houston, or a big Canadian town that doesn't have a hockey team, etc. etc.
