Just a heads up too, one of my buddies is like... a hockey encyclopedia. No joke, he can tell you any stat about any player at almost any point in NHL, AHL, CHL etc. history so we have a tough battle to win this league! I don't expect to win but I hope one of us can take him down!

Don't sweat it, its about using your gut..picking player you expect to play well assembling a solid all around team..and using your higher draft picks on players you know are the stars..

You really cannot play wrong in fantasy sports unless you pick strictly favourites, if you are picking 5th or 6th for example and guys like Sid, Ovy, Stamkos are picked..you may wanna grab a top flight goalie first..some guys go for strong offence for their points, others go pure strong blue like + goalie others mix it up..

For my fantasy baseball I picked strong pitching instead of offence for example..it worked out for me..I was able to trade my depth in pitching for offence mid season when teams realized thier pitching was in the trash...think strategy..you have all the powers of a manager, you can trade..waive, bench..sign free agents that are playing strong. you are not stuck with the team you pick, you could trade away major players immediately after the trade and mold what you feel is the perfect team.

Don't be afraid or think for a second that you will be the punching bag of the league..my first year in fantasy sports was this year, I knew a bit about baseball but nothing to write home about. But I remained in the top 3 of 12 for most of the season in two leagues..tanked in the playoffs but whatever it happens

As long as you are a savvy manager with a good "buy low, sell high" mentality for players, you will go far.

Dude, don't worry I can tell you right now one of my good buddies will end up being last place. He knows very little about hockey outside the Sens. I just think he was looking for something to do lol.

No, no, I'm not worried at all, just joking around.

One thing I am wondering, how do the playoffs work?

we can do it one of two ways..

1) top 8 teams go.

2) division leaders get top playoff seeds rest is calculated by points. (if we fill up to the max 16 man otherwise I will dismantle divisions)

So far its set up for option 2, it is how it works in the NHL right now so I figured lets stick to it.

I mean, how do you decide who wins? All the points scored by players who made the playoffs...?

Fantasy Playoffs generally happen before the real playoffs begin

...again, how are they decided? If it's not based off NHL stats, how does someone win?

stats, the style we play is Head to Head..your team plays another team for a week and those with the bigger point totals wins..I have put 14 trackable stats in the league..player totals are tallied with rest of your team..every time you win in a category you get a win in the overall league..Its all about how well your players do, not how well their respective teams do.

Example: We track..

Goals, Assists, Points (for offence)
Wins, Losses, Shutouts (for Goalies)

you are playing me..your team beats me in 4 of 6 categories..so at the end of week 1 your teams overall record is 4-2-0 while mine is 2-4-0 thus determining league standings, we generally play each team twice (based on total number of teams)

Regular season and playoffs are exactly the same..

Does that answer your question ?

If you guys know anyone else that wants to play, please give them the info and have them sign up tonight or tomorrow before the draft, I'd like to get at least 12 teams in the league and as of now we only have 10. I'd like the league to be as deep as possible, and we really need more teams.

Encourage anyone who is a hockey fan to join..I'd really like a minimum of 12 teams for the sake of healthy competition.

We seem to have a bit of an issue here...

There are 15 teams, but it's saying we need an even number of teams to determine the schedule and carry out our draft. Is there someone else coming in?

Also, could I be moved into the 2nd division before this last person joins? I'd rather be matched up against my fellow TGH peoples when possible. :confident:

All right, we got 16. Let's roll.

Looks like we're matched up right away, Mr. Black.

I'd be down with that! I'm a bit worried about my team as I drastically had to change my strategy with everyone picking my freakin players before I got a chance!
