And there goes Beelso... talking for everybody and saying "we all agree." 29:38.

I wanna hear a YIBR where Mongo and Link disagree with everything Beezzzlso says. I wanna see how upset he gets.

HAHAHA...yeah, yeah. I know I took over on this one. Mainly for the reason I was pressed for time (I'm still moving) and I wanted us to keep things chugging along. Also, I was kinda spearheading the topic.

And as far as not agreeing with me. It's happened a lot on the show. And we're all still here.

Bob Hoskins would've made a better Wolverine IMO. No joke. If you're going to pick an actor to play an already established character, that actor has to both resemble, but more importantly be able to capture the essence of that character. Not saying Hoskins would be the perfect choice, but at least he'd be better than Jackman.

First of, Wolverine's a 168cm ugly, hairy little man. Jackman is a 188cm pretty boy. And Hoskins? He's 163cm and looks kind of like a caveman. Sure he doesn't have some of Wolverine's facial features, but there's makeup for that stuff. IMO, Hoskins better meets the requirements.

As for acting. I can't say I've seen Hoskins portray a character similar to Wolverine. But he does have sort of an animalistic glare in his eyes. With the right director (like Cameron) he could probably pull it of. As for Jackman. I can't say I've ever seen him successfully portray a character similar to Wolverine either.

So, you're saying Eddie Valiant would make a good Wolverine?

Ohkay.

Ohkay.

Im saying we gotta look past his more comedic roles and imagine him with more makeup and a mean attitude. So yeah, I think he'd make a good Wolverine. Maybe not a GREAT Wolverine. But acting and appearance wise I think he could pull it of. Wolverine's all about the attitude. And honestly, Hugh Jackman just seems like a super nice guy to me. An attitude he doesn't seem to be able to shake while acting.

I always thought Hugh Jackman made for a pretty excellent Wolverine...the portrayal of the character in the movies is the fault of the writing and such. I had no real previous knowledge of the guy so I had none of this "he's too nice" stuff running through my head, I just thought he looked the part (yeah he's supposed to be short and all that jazz but that's the kind of liberty I can easily look past).

I feel that some liberties as far as appearance go are ok and some aren't. To me it's all about how much of their personality is expressed through what they look like. Wolverine's hight explains so much why he does and acts the way he does. He's always the little guy looked down on from bigger guys. It's also a huge part of his fighting style. His height is IMO as visually important as Superman's cape. It doesn't look right without it.

As for direction and writing. I agree. It's pretty clear they went in a more Wolverine-ish direction in Origins (when Hugh Jackman got more control over the character). It's definitely the best interpretation of the character. Still though. I don't feel the guys really right for the part.
