the first couple SOTWs i went without votes but now i've been getting at least one. i thought clerks would get mad amount of votes but ehh what the hell do i know. i guess everyone likes the pretty moving images... damn you link! it is a great design though.

meh i was too busy to make one this week, hmm my vote is torn between crittbeast's, wallet's and link's...

i say brock looks annoying and that pic is awesomeness, wallet seemed to have made the mascot of black and white MR G&W!! and link's timeless river is amazing great entry for sig of the link

Before I begin, I'd have to say, the lack of color certainly makes it interesting. Without it, no sig can jump out on it's own. I mean, before, if someone posted a very colorful sig, it'd immediately stand out to you. This week, though, no sig suddenly caught my eye. It's nice, to say the least (not saying that colorful sigs are annoying, they can just be distracting at times).

Anyways, while they're all good sigs (yes, Beeslo, even your's =p), I'd have to go with Crittbeast for this one. Like Link and Snake said, it looks great in black and white, which is odd, because you'd have expect it to be, well, not that great without color. The addition of Brock was also pretty funny, and props to him for adding that. The greyest white look for their skin just contrasts well with the darkest grey look of their clothes. You especially notice this with the girl in the middle (Dawn?), thanks to how much skin is showing and the color of her shirt. While the contest was intended for images that were originally black and white, Crittbeast still did an excellent job, because he picked the right contrast for the sig.

true, but you really can't isolate votes to design. if we're just going to vote on design why have a theme at all? isn't the whole point of a theme to come up with a great content and edit the design? i'm not trying to argue or anything i'm just more or less agreeing with your statement, "I understand that content is going to sway votes/opinion someway and somehow usually", and taking it one step further. if this were merely content alone, i would've just submitted a black and white picture of tits and see how many votes i got every week. on the other hand if it were just design alone i could've made a amazing design of a dick and not see any votes due to content. content plays a big role whether we like it or not, if you don't like the content chances are you won't like the design.

i guess it's hard when you think you've come up with a great idea for a theme and don't see the response you had hoped for. i never get too frustrated by losing or not getting votes because everyone who submits to SOTW are amazing artists and all have great style.

ahh well, that's my little rant on the content/design issue.

that's what i did with the emotions SOTW. i didn't know the anime characters and got a completely different vibe from it than what they were actually going for which i thought made the sig even more cooler than it was since i had a different interpretation of it.

Yeah. I played with the contrast options in photoshop A LOT before I was happy with it.
