So, why is everyone still so butthurt about the Irate Gamer?

I never really hated the guy. I've just always been... indifferent to him. If you all want his work to die, all we need to do is just ignore him. Hell, even if he doesn't disappear, at least you will forget about him eventually. Just like The Game.

Personally I think AVGN set the trend for angry video game reviews. Now everyone is jumping on the bandwagon. His earlier videos yeah, he was like the nerd, but now I think he's trying hard to be more original. He also expands on things AVGN only briefly mentions. That radio interview, I felt really bad for Chris and it makes those guys look like jackasses.

I've watched both the Angry Video Game Nerd and the Irate Gamer for a while now. I don't really care who came up with the idea first or whatever... I just want to watch video game related videos. I enjoy watching both, however, I find that I'm more fond of the work that the Nerd does because he was the first that I saw and he seems to have better acting skills. But I don't think that the Irate Gamer is a bad reviewer, he just needs to keep doing what he's doing to perfect it.

Also, I did notice the blatant "rip off" when the Irate Gamer first came out, but he's definitely found his own niche in his most recent videos.

Correction they are entertainers. A reviewer wouldn't...ah forget it read my next article on HT. That'll explain my stance a bit

Yeah when he first started off he did perform some acts of plagiarism, but, now you don't see anything like that. I mean in his latest review involving R.O.B. I did find myself chuckling at it a couple of times. I just hope he doesn't execute the same dumb mistake in his Ghost n Goblins review. Anybody that has played both GnG and/or Super GnG would be able to tell he passed off Super Ghosts n Goblins as the NES version while the people who haven't played them (like myself) would find something odd first time around and realize it upon re-watching it. Anyway there are worse reviewers out there who deserve to have more complaints then Irate Gamer and the leading example in my humble opinion would have to be Sizzler07. I mean anyone would call a game that was ported to console as a remake deserves every bit of abuse that he has coming to him.

What really gets to me about the IG is that any form of critisism that soulds even a little negative, he would delete it right off the bat, or there are times when he would even insult the people that commented, and assuming that they are AVGN Nazis. I think it's childish and immature to insult your critics, and to judge them upon a comment.

Before I heard of this, I could care less. I've only seen like 3 of his vids, and thought
"Better than alot of the shit on youtube, but I don't like him much either..."

and hey, the Nerd is on GT now, so let the IG have youtube. from what I've been reading on this thread, be's a bit more original now. Just let him do his thing.

You know, The Irate Gamer sounds so much like that kid off of the movie The Problem Child 2 For those who have seen it, you know what i'm talking about.

Anyways, as for the IG himself, meh...I could care less for his videos. On the other hand, I am a fan of the AVGN, although I feel his newer work isn't as good as his old....I mean he was at his prime with, Friday the 13th, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Bible Games ect. I mean seeing him review these games in the beginning was fantastic. It was original, fresh and funny, and james had this pissed off youthful nerdy innocent look to him that made it even funnier. Check out the TMNT review and you'll see.

And there are a few tiny differences i don't like in his new videos...He doesn't use his Nes anymore, only the Top Loader, and what happened to his famous green Futon? Not to mention he doesn't use any Movie clips anymore in his videos(which were used in Back to the future, Rocky ect) because of copyright issues....Then again, didn't he use Movie clips for his Star Trek review?....And also, the mixing of two swear words is both predictable and old. But besides that, I still dig his vids' and look forward to them.

Ah, and i gotta give props to the Happy videogame Nerd, his videos are fantastic....GameHeroes should really get him on the site. Not to mention Awesome Videogames and of course the GameJew.

I believe Derek is already with Retrowaretv.com and he hasn't had a new video up in months (although some are on the way very soon) so I don't believe he'll ever end up on this site, although I agree he his really damn good. As for the Irate gamer my main problem with him, besides the fact that he has blatantly ripped off the AVGN and given him no credit or recognition what so ever and he constantly censors others who voice their opinion about him, is that he is just isn't funny at all. I mean his sense of humor is so dull and bland and his comedic timing is non existent. He also can't act at all and any time he's seizuring while holding a controller (I think he's trying to play) he just looks like a complete ass. He also isn't a gamer at all, if you've seen any of his Contra reviews you know what I'm talking about.

AVGN, Armake, Happy Video Game Nerd, Goemon047, Spoonyone, etc.... those are guys worth checking out as they are fresh original and actually know how to make people laugh.

What you've said is what some others have said and understood, which is good. However you're in the vast minority, and maybe it's an egotrip here or something but a higher ratio here understand it than more of YouTube.

Just as clarification, the main point of the topic (as topic creator) was to discuss the justifications on why certain others dislike him, because I'd like to have an intelligent, civil discussion on it without any flaming.

Well that's nice and all Geoff to keep things civilized, but there isn't that many people who actually do have a grudge against Chris Bores.

I actually enjoy his Y2B movies more, Ghost Hunters is a funny parody of the series, and so is the Mythbusters video.

People just see Irate Gamer as an AVGN knock-off, even though the whole "review video games" thing has been around since Video Games themselves. If that's what you want to talk about Geoff, maybe make it more clearer.

Fox did have a point though, being against "Irate Gamer" is like Beating a Dead Horse. There's no need to report him for something that is after all AN OPINION

The only good thing about this thread, is there isn't any "AVGN vs IG" flame wars going on, and it does seem to me moderately on topic.

If we could go back to the ORIGINAL TOPIC AGEntertainment had the best video rant on the situation

And in the 3rd Rant he made a fair comparison between the two "reviewers".

It depends on each person, some people don't care, they just like people talking about bad games. Some people think IG stole material of the AVGN and some people just hate the WHOLE "AVGN" thing together. In my opinion, everyone has their own viewpoint on it.

"Everyone" is also something that is false, not that many people have even seen The Irate Gamer or even know who he is.
