I just went and bought a brand new copy of Rage (PC version, disc copy) and after installed it and tried to play it my computer gives me a "Rage has stopped working" message before the game boots up. I know the game will work, system requirement labs says my computer can play it, especially since I just put a new graphics card in it, and I sure as hell don't feel like waiting three days to download it from Steam, so is there a way to fix this?

What's video card do you have? You made need to install the latest drivers.

Or try an uninstall/fresh reinstall, after updating video drivers.

AMD Radeo HD 6570. I got all the hotfixes and now the game is studdering as if I'm watching a movie on a scratched DVD disc.

You're better off searching the games support forums and trying to find people with similar issues to yours.
