okay so I was playing borderlands when i had what seemed to be a little bit of a power surge or something. and then on the 360 I saw the 3 dreaded red rings. so I turned the 360 on and off and now there is nothing wrong with it. It works fine as of right now but should I be worried. I read that with this sort of thing it can red ring on you for good a couple weeks after a power surge. I keep the 360 horizontal so that it doesn't overheat and it's never on for, I would say 5-6 hours at a time. From now on if I know it helps I will be making sure to only play it for 4 hours at a time and I heard it's good if you unplug the system when your not using it. please tell me, is my 360 going to be fine from now on, or should I be expecting some more red rings a couple weeks from now?

Yes.

okay after looking onto this further because it was caused from a power surge, couldn't I just get a new power supply? I have read that this may be the problem, and you could just replace the power supply. It was a power surge so I don't think it's anything internal within the 360, it must have something to do with the power supply?

I got a RROD from a power surge once as well and it was fine afterwards. I did get a more permanent RROD like a year after but I sincerely doubt one had anything to do with the other.

If it happens again, check the light on the huge ass adapter. If it's not green, then you just need a new adapter. If it is green, you're out of luck.

I was just talking generally, nothing to do with the power surge. :teehee:

I'd start worrying more when the system starts freezing

It SHOULD be fine, I got red ringed a few times because of power surges and it was fine for a long while (about a year) 'till I got E74. And that giant ass box protects your 360 from damage that can be caused from power surges.

happened to me at least half a dozen times after storms or after moving the system, you should be fine

now if your games are freezeing then it is time to get worried

Are you plugging the 360 into a surge protector because MS says you shouldn't do that.
