The fee is probably for all the money lost with the consoles under warranty, that need to be fixed. So basically all of them.

But yeah, I don't mind paying for live, as long as I get a good deal on it. I never pay full price, or I try to get it in a bundle. If you look around, you can find it for $30-40. Also it's a great service, that works. I never have issues about online on Street Fighter IV, unless the connection is really bad, like 2 bars. 3 and more bars, there is barely any lag, and 4-5 is like the guy is playing next to me. While pretty much the majority of complainers about SFIV's online are PS3 players. (PC online is also pretty good btw)

All versions of SFIV use P2P for online gameplay. The lag you may or may not get in a match depends entirely on your connection as well as that of your opponent.
And no, the majority of those complaining about the online gameplay in SFIV are those that realize that input delays and slowdowns aren't good ways to compensate for lag in a fighting game.

I certainly feel I get my money's worth when I pay for Live but I don't have any delusions about one alternative being less prone to lag than the other. Pretty much all games on consoles lack dedicated servers, Live or not.

Easy kills in MW 2 XD

But yeah, I kinda see a point for paying, but at the same time I'd rather have more money put into the damn console itself. Because 360's are hunks of shit. The really need to redesign.

That and the insane fee.

Seriously, think about something. 17-18 years ago, there were crowds around MKII. The very best players could spend all day on 25 to 50 cents. Now, clearly there were some downsides to that (which is the subject of a completely different rant), but I equate then vs now to poker vs Magic cards.

Everyone seems to forget that Sony charges the developers 16 cents for every GB of DLC that people download, while Microsoft does not because it is covered in the fee for Xbox Live. So for example if a free 1 GB demo is downloaded say a million times, they would have to pay Sony $160,000.

DLC can feel cheap at times, quickly slapped together and rushed out, other DLC is quite good and feels like an honest expansion pack to the game like some of the fallout 3 ones.

I dont feel bad about companies having to pay for people downloading their demos , for 1 that demo is going to sell their game making them far more money and 2 a company has a lot more money then I do.

DLC is great. I've downloaded so many bonus maps and skins for games over the years that I couldn't name them all. But you probably don't mean stuff like the extra plugins that Bethesda released for Morrowind, or the new maps that you can count on id to release for their games, or the thousands of player-created maps, models, skins, mods and campaigns that you can download for free.

Paying for DLC is dumb.

Leaving it there would be much more poignant, but I can't. I have to say that paying for anything that you have been provided for free in the past, with no justification for it other than "we want more money k thx by," is retarded. If you do so, you are in turn retarded. Buy a decent PC and play online like everyone else has since Quake. Same shit, zero charge.

Microsoft is charging extra for an idiot's interface: hand holding for those too stupid or lazy to figure things out for themselves. It's Network Gaming for Dummies. If you can justify that charge, fine. Just don't pretend to be anything other than an idiot. Real gamers are the ones playing Double Dash!! online through Warp Pipe. It's not hard to set up, and it's free.

Theres quite a few people that are very angry over the $5 a month it costs to use xbox live.

That saddens me on the inside. Instead of eating McDonalds that month just skip it and therey ou go, you just paid for 2 months of xbox live. Problem solved.

In what land does it cost a monthly fee for Live? You pay for a one year sub and that's it.

In what land does $60 a year not equal $5 a month?

Seriously. It's $5 a month. Cut back on the junkfood or the coffee or whatevery ou spend your money on SLIGHTLY and it's easily paid for.

Hell they even give you a free month if you buy it from a store. So Really its $4.50 a month.

Uh, no, its like 50 dollars a year. Doing the math on a calculator (fuck you, I suck at math) its like 4.17 dollars a month. Even if you have a silver memebership which is free you can still pretty much do everything a gold membership can except play games online. You can still download stuff, watch movies, listen to music, download updates, and communicate with friends.

In Canada (Where I'm from) it's $60. I am right. In America maybe its not like that

You can download (SOME) stuff, watch movies listen to music download updates an d communicate with (A) friend.

Regardless of the things you can do on Silver, you still proved my point by saying it's actually cheaper per month. It's not expensive. It's sony fanboys that cry about paying money to justify the fact that their online network sucks. I shouldnt say sucks, it doesnt suck.. its just not as good as XBL.

Some people do not like one aspect of a system I like so they must be fanboys of a competing console. It's the only explanation.
