There are moments in video games that you will never forget. This is one of those moments that in my opinion really shows what this medium is capable of. Everything about this is just amazing, the timing, the music, the scenery. Am I alone on this?

What are your most memorable moments in video games?

1.) Christmas '92- When I received a Super Nintendo (along with Final Fight and Super Street Fighter II).

2.) Dragon Quest VIII - The entire game was a great memory for me IMO. I felt it was one of the best games on the PS2.

3.) Final Fantasy IV - This was the first game that I played in the Final Fantasy series. Truly a 16-bit gem.

4.) College lan parties - nothing like getting together with your friends with a couple of XBoxes, routers, and TVs, and mercilessly killing each other on Halo 2.

5.) Zelda series - I fell in love with these games and I haven't looked back.

1. my number 1 is easily back when gamestop was babages, I stopped in and saw a sign up sheet for Final Fantasy VII so they would call you when it was released ( this was before the days of pre orders) , at this point I knew absolutely nothing of the game besides its logo, but I did know that final fantasy was at this point my favorite series having played the hell out of Final Fantasy for NES, FF 2 and 3 ( IV and VI ) and mystic quest for SNES, and doing some very nerdy but very fun live action role playing of scenarios from FF VI ( FYI I was always setzer).

I didn't even know the date the game was going to be released, just that it was coming and I was on a call list once it was relased, one day no clue as to what was about to unfold, I come home and my mom is standing in the kitchen door and she says to me "Isn't that Final Fantasy your favorite games?" I told her yes, she then informed me that gamestop called and told her that Final Fantasy VII was out and they had a copy for me if I wanted to come and buy it, so immediately the wheels start turning, how am I going to get 50 dollars to buy this game? I didnt have 5 cents let alone 50 dollars, I was a poor freshman in high school.

thats when it happened, my mom dropped the bomb on me, knowing how much I loved final fantasy, she went all the way out to the mall ( she has anxiety and hates to drive and go into stores ) went in, and bought me final fantasy VII for no good reason other than she knew how much I loved final fantasy, blew my mind, I was speechless, it was a perfect moment.

2. is the dog jumping through the window in Resident Evil.

3. Final fantasy IV and VI as a whole.

4. actually finding a copy of Star Wars : Shadows of the Empire in stock at Kmart and being the first one of my friends to own it.

5. buying my first GameBoy a long with Links Awakening.

6. opening the NES for the first time on christmas morning in 85 I believe it was.

7. getting in trouble in pre-school and getting grounded from playing the atari.

and one that swings the other way, an moment infamous moment I will never forget, spending months maybe even years anticipating final fantasy X, getting it, playing it, and realizing almost everything that made final fantasy great was gone from this game and it just felt like something completely different, and how terribly disappointed I was, infact I have to this day never finished that game.

:zombie:

I am going to try and do this chronologically...

1. There are several stories of me as a very young child when I would spend my afternoons watching Sesame Street and then playing the Atari 2600. I remember playing Pitfall and other games for hours on end.

2. Playing Super Mario Brothers 3 for the first time as my younger sister watched me. I get to the Desert Level and she points out the sun in the upper corner. Right before it begins to attack me!

3. In grade school, I didn't have many friends, so I spent many weekends by myself. I cannot remember how many times I would get home on Friday, start up the Legend of Zelda and play it throughout the entire weekend.

4. One Christmas, I was incredibly disappointed with my gifts. A few days later, my mother exchanged all of my gifts and I was allowed to pick out something I really wanted. That day, I came home with a Sega Genesis.

5. The amount of sleepless nights in High School I spent playing Goldeneye, Mario Kart and Ocarina of Time with all of my friends during sleepovers.

6. An old friend of mine and I played Twisted Metal 2 for almost an entire season straight.

7. Purchasing a SNES from my friend with two controllers and 4 Games(Mario Kart, Mario World, SimCity and Super Metroid) for only $20. Then finding and playing all the great SNES RPG's for the very first time.

8. My college friend and I drove to Charlottesville Virginia to do some sightseeing. We spent an entire day playing Pokemon in the hotel room with our separate Gameboys.

9. That same college friend had a Playstation 2. I went over to his house one night and he had a copy of Final Fantasy X. He wanted me to play it, so I played it for the very first time. I didn't stop playing that game until about 10 AM the next morning.

10. Buying my Playstation 2 with Final Fantasy X, GTAIII and Vice City.

11. Driving all around my city trying to find the rare PS1 and PS2 games I wanted. I drove 50 miles out of town to pick up a copy of the original Suikoden and Disgaea when it was super rare!

12. Getting 100% in San Andreas and finally beating that 'Supply Lines' Mission.

13. Finding Earthbound out in the wild.

14. Spending around 8 hours beating Yizamat in Final Fantasy XII.

There are so many more stories and more information I could elaborate on, but those are the ones that come to mind right now.

The first time I played Resident Evil and Resident Evil 2.

When Street Fighter 2 came out for the SNES, my buddy and I saved our money and got on a waiting list at Electronics Boutique, which they said it would possibly be over a month before we would get ours. The night before it released, I ran up to Wal-Mart to get something for school or some crap like that. Anyway, I head back to the electronics dept., which then was tiny compared to nowadays, and there on the shelf were 5 copies of the game. I immediately bought it, then went to Burger King where my buddy was working. I walked in and yelled at him from the counter, as he was in the back cooking and I showed him the game. He almost flipped out. After he got off work, we drove to his house and played the game all night and even skipped school the next day.

Back when I was in High School, I was on the robotics team. We would meet at school at 5:30 and school got out at 2:45. One day me and a few friends decided to sneak into the room where we would meet, hook a Wii up to the projector in there and play Brawl. We started doing it every day we had robotics. We would occasionally play other things (one time we just watched Clerks) we mostly played Brawl.

We never got caught doing it, which is good because we would probably of gotten into a shit-ton of trouble.

First time I beat Chaos on Final Fantasy on NES. I had spent so many nights in the dark, making maps, grinding out levels, frying my eyeballs. I was like, 10 or 11 or something like that. I had died a few times and when I finally got that hit, the music changed and he started to dissolve I screamed, threw the controller, jumped up and threw my hands up and screamed "OH MY GOD, YES!!!"

That was over 20 years ago and I remember it like it was yesterday.

I don't remember my first car, my first kiss or the first time I got drunk. Man, I remember Final Fantasy clear as day.

- I remember playing Super Monkey Ball on the Gamecube with my brother and two of my friends. We would meet up every day at my house and try to find cool tricks and ways to beat stages. For those of you who know what Super Monkey Ball is, consider yourself awesome

- Staying up until 4 in the morning fighting through all of the fake Tal Rasha tombs in Diablo 2

- Playing as Galuf and saving my friends from Exdeath's castle in Final Fantasy V

- Being a xenomorph and picking off marines and scientists in a giant room in AvP 2010

- Getting annihilated in Warcraft 2 by my older brother

- Mario party with my sisters... Fucking chance time... Fun times

I love all of my memories of video games. It makes me feel warm and safe, and it's something that will never leave me. Not only do I have fond memories of video games, but the friends and family I played them with. To me, all of these memories also mirror the setting and also the time of my life, as well as loved ones. Nostalgia is a powerful thing.

- Oh, and THE SOUNDTRACK FOR THE SIMS!!!

I have many, and I'm sure I'll post more in due time, but one that sticks out was in high school at exam time I would bring my N64 into school, sign out a tv from the AV group and we'd have game tournaments in either time halls of the cafeteria. We'd mostly play WCW vs NWO or WWF No Mercy (best wrestling games ever made, that's a fact), but every once and awhile we'd throw in a Mariokart, Goldeneye or Smash Bros. I didn't mind exam time at all in high school. It meant becoming reigning champ in No Mercy's 4-player Royal Rumble!

Yeah, I lost my original copy in one of my moves over the years, so I rebought it for $2 a couple years back. Still is an awesomely fun game (I bring my N64 up to my family's cottage for when I have a lads weekend and that's a staple if only to chase Rick Flair around) but I think No Mercy's edges it out just because of it's create a character. I still have all the characters me and my buddies made back in high school saved, and when I crack that baby out every once and awhile it's pure hilarity to remember some of the abominations we made.
