For anyone still alive and kicking, get in here and talk about Isaac's return to failed romantic relationships with zombies. It's a romantic comedy!

Discuss.

I'm picking it up today; talked my wife into making it my V-Day gift.

I'll be posting videos of gameplay from my play through if anyone is interested in purchasing or getting a first hand look at the game.

So far I'm enjoying the game, it's more or less the same Dead Space you have come to love. Which can be both good and bad for some people; but hey if it ain't broken, don't fix it. As for the story itself, that's the main reason you'll be purchasing this game if you ask me. So far it's pretty solid and the atmosphere is that of DS1 and 2 together.

Oh, and a word of advice: Play the game without DLC content/special pre-order weapons/suits. Trust me, the game has something really good going for it in Vanilla mode.

I played through the demo and enjoyed it enough, and I've loved the other 3 Dead Space games, so I'm definitely looking forward to it.

Gotta finish AC3 first though.

Downloading the game tonight, but I probably won't be able to play much until next week. Debating, do I finish Far Cry 3 first or just jump right into Dead Space 3...

Oh and I have Assassin's Creed 3 too to work on. Yay choices!

so, I dont know if this is intended, or a bug, or a glitch, or whatever, but my first impression of the game so far is an odd one.

I got the game on PS3, I fire it up and start playing it on normal difficulty , almost as soon as I gain control of issac I start to find med packs, every locker I open in the beginning section has a med pack in it, with in 10 minutes my entire inventory was full of medium and small med packs, I actually had to start throwing them away to collect ammo, so after I get to the first bench I store all but 2 of the med packs in the safe, and with in 10 - 15 minutes my entire inventory is full of med packs again, anyone else run into this?

It's intentional, and you'll be going through them later on through the game. Or at least I did. ( I was playing on hard though) Play the game on hard by the way, it's a much more satisfying play through and also keeps it at a good level of Survival horror/action with the items and salvage.

Wasn't super fond of the demo, but seeing more footage of it did raise my interest. I really liked the first one, but I still need to play the second one before jumping on board with this.

One sweet thing about the demo was that I made a gun called the RIP SHRED, which is basically the firepower of a shotgun with a machine gun. It kills things good.

Not going to lie, the weapon crafting can be crazy addictive. I dismantled one of my pre order weapons to make a linegun/shotgun combo which it pretty awesome. What's not awesome, I don't think the game's scary at all anymore. I feel more shocked if anything, if that makes sense. Like, "Oh, there's an enemy behind me. What do you know." But there is tension when you get swarmed by 4 or more necromorphs. I dunno, only on chapter 5 so we'll see.

its definitely not as scary, but can it be? we have been down flickering poorly lit hallways with monsters jumping out for 3 games now, I cant really see anything they do bringing back that on the edge of your seat feeling that the first game had, it definitely can get tense when your low on ammo, and get locked in a room with a shit ton of necromorphs coming at you with no way out.

also, line gun + ripper loaded up with full damage + mods and an attachment that adds corrosive acid damage over time = pure fucking awesome.

if one thing in this game annoys me, its the way side missions have zero saves in them, if you have to "save and quit" near the end of a side mission when you come back you have to not only re do the whole mission but track back to where it takes place from wherever the last save in the main story was.

Honestly, DS1 wasn't scary at all. To me at least. It's not about scares, it's about unnerving atmosphere, it was never intended or it was never implemented well to scare you. I mean, closet scares are out the ass in all 3 of them, but I think they serve more of a "How well prepared are you" scenario than an "AAAAHH" scenario. The atmosphere in this game is the greater of the 3, you get a really fucked up point of view of how everyone around you practically killed themselves for the good of their colony. Suicide plays a huge role in this game and it really sticks out with some gruesome imagery.

On Chapter 7 now and... it's ok. I dunno, it's not a bad game but I don't feel as engrossed as I was in the first two Dead Space games.

On chapter 11 and yeah... it's still an ok game. The big events like fighting a giant boss, or attacking wave after wave on necromorphs while trying to avoid a giant out of control drill create a lot of tension, but besides those humanoid monster that just seem to keep coming I don't feel any sort of uneasiness in the game. The story is silly, a lot of the missions feel like pointless busy work (oh Issac, we need this piece of whatever to start this machine, but it's all the way in this building way over there. Go get it). I dunno, I miss the more straight-forward style of the last two games.

Spoiler
That isn't a moon, it's a necromorph. And there were aliens who built a machine to stop but something went wrong. Now use the machine to stop the moon. Well Issac is dead in space. But we hear his voice at the end.

story jumped the shark

On chapter 13 and am beyond ready for this game to be over now... story is dumb, characters are annoying, boss fights aren't hard they just drag on and on and on...

Also do they ever explain how Ellie gets her eye back? It doesn't look like they do... which is just stupid.
