Hey, like I said, it's a ten year old game and the fact that it rocked you that much is inspiring.

This game is complete awesomeness. I'm currently trying to get through the game using belmont. It's so damn tough. But bosses are so easy.. lol. I love how easy the first couple of bosses are as belmont. I actually used my special by accident which just destroyed the boss.

I do question.. should this be in the Other games since this is also available through Xbox Live arcade. Which in turn is ported from the PS1, which is originally ported from the Sega Saturn.

Interesting Tid Bit:
Which the PS1 port took out 1 boss fight (against sophia) and a chance to plas AS Sophia.
:-( If only we had gotten the originaly Saturn Port.

Just a correction on your Tid Bit the PS1 was first rel October 2, 1997 in US. And the Saturn port was rel on June 25, 1998 in the US and they ADDED a boss fight as well as the Hidden Garden area of the castle.

First off, why did NTSC get shafted on the boxart? Japan and the PAL regions got this beautiful piece of work

Image

While over here in the NTSC regions we got stuck with

Image

Not only that, look at this beautiful art for the Saturn. The best rendition of the art by far

Image

Fucking hell...

Anyway, though I don't think of it as the best Metroidvania, Symphony of the Night is my favorite one. I have a mint, black-label PS1 version and the Dracula X Chronicles version for my PSP, and I have to say I liked the original script more than the revised one. "A cesspit of hatred and lies" is no stand-in for "a little pile of secrets."

Also, did anyone else think the Jewel Knuckles were really overpowered? Even when I got the Alucard gear I still used the Knuckles.

I bought SOTN for both the 360 and PS3. I like it, but I still prefer Super Castlevania 4 over it. I don't like the RPG elements, I just want to be able to sidescroll, whoop some ass, and carry on. I don't have a problem with leveling up, it just feels weird in a sidescroller.

this game has some of the most memorable dialogue ever in any game. It sounds cool when it is spoken but, if you really think about it some of it is pretty harsh.

Fear not, I had my own reasons for destroying him.

It must have been painful--- Indeed

I just love that kind of language. To this day, my best friend quote castlevania ALL THE TIME. Usually it is through voice-mails, but we tend to throw it in during our normal talk.

I loved this game to death, however I have one complaint.... Galamoth. It took me forever to beat this dude. I don't know if I just wasn't at a high enough level or what, but this guy was impossible.

the Crissigram sword was in my opinion the best way to beat Galamoth. You could move freely while your sword took off multiple damage.

I'm trying to get through the game with Richter but I keep playing puzzle quest instead.. lol. Ugh obviously I have my priorities all wrong.

I'm finding that with Richter's throwing knife special kills almost every boss I've encountered.. it's actually extremely overpowered.. What's with that?

Obviously it has been a while since I've been on (see other post)

but in regards to this subject;

what is the deal with the boat in the lake when you look through the spy glass in the tower? I don't understand the point of it. Or lets say half of the other little cut scenes.

Anyone want to help me out?

Is it a sidescroller or a 3D game?

There's way too much of a pause between character dialogue though, if it was just written it'd be great but the voices really ruin the flow.

I really need to finish this game on XBLA.
