Nintendo has filed a lawsuit against peripherals manufacturer Nyko over its wireless Kama Nunchuk controller for the Wii.

According to a Bloomberg report, this is the first time that Nintendo has sued over a Wii accessory.

Nintendo's complaint alleges that Nyko's controller "wholly appropriates the novel shape, design, overall appearance and even the color and materials used in the Nintendo Nunchuk controller."

"While Nintendo supports the creation of innovative games and products used with our game systems, we cannot allow third parties to infringe our intellectual property rights,'' said Denise Kaigler, a VP with Nintendo of America.

"We have not knowingly violated anyone's intellectual property and we're still examining this,'' Nyko spokesman CC Swiney told Bloomberg.

The case was filed in the US District Court for the Western District of Washington (Seattle).

Well, seems Nintendo is being a little strung up these days. As I look at this article I think of when I had my hands on the Wireless Nunchuck by Nyko. Aesthetically, it's a slight tad bigger then the original Nunchuck. It fits an adults hand much better, in my opinion.

Of course Nintendo is stating that they don't want any of their IP's infringed upon. In the back of my mind, I can only think Nintendo wants to release their own wireless nunchuck within the coming months/years.

You're probably right about how Nintendo wants to release their own wireless nunchuk. This is just further proof that Nintendo is nothing but another heartless corporation that's in it for the money; as if we needed any more evidence of that amidst all the re-releases and I.P.-whoring, but some people continue to think that the Big N is the sole company out there upholding justice in the video game industry and fighting for gamers everywhere.

I wouldn't go as far as calling Nintendo an evil corporation. But, I do think they want to be the ones spearheading the "wireless controller" front on the Wii.

They are a profit organization, they produce minimalistic products for full financial potential, and I think they want to protect that, confining their position at number 1 in the market. The gaming industry is big business, after all.

Btw, thanks for actually responding. I was getting quite discouraged. Threads that I'm going to be posting will be a little more technical than your average,"My favorite game music thread". Don't get me wrong, I love games to the fullest extent. But, I actually love the gaming industry as a whole. Watching how it works, finding the inner workings and then actually analyzing the situations in my head, then presenting what I actually think will happen.

No problem. I do the same thing, but I usually refrain from posting about it because those sorts of threads don't typically fly around this corner of the Interwebs.

Great! God forbid Nyko makes a USB Hard drive that'll put Nintendo in a real fit.

Doesn't Nyko compensate Nintendo for all their sales anyway? I'm actually really not sure.

I like Nintendo and I've supported them over 20 years, but I swear I get tired of them being praised so much for being "for the gamer" and all the other bs spewed like that, and Sony and Microsoft are protrayed as the evil corporations. Give me a break, they're ALL the same.

Now, combine this with the recent "geeks and otaku" comments from Nintendo of Europe and you can see exactly how far up their own asses the people at Nintendo have their heads.

They've gone right back to the SNES days where they let their success go to their heads and they quit caring about the consumer. They're being incredibly arrogant about the storage problem facing many Wii owners, which is only going to get worse now because of WiiWare.
