may be on the way

Quote:
A new teaser for a game to be revealed at next month's VGAs heavily points towards an all-new Resident Evil.

A single frame that flashes up in a new teaser trailer for Spike's Video Games Awards bears the slogan 'Stay Alert, Stay Alive, Report Symptoms' alongside the Biohazard symbol – which is, of course, synonymous with the Resident Evil series.

It was previously believed that the game, which was previously teased with some generic zombie imagery, could be a new Left 4 Dead – but now it's looking more likely that it could be a new instalment in Capcom's long-running series.

Could it be Resident Evil 6?

Being that the scenario switches from Chris and/or Jill to Leon and/or Clair, this one will feature either Leon or Clair or both. Fighting Ganados was fun and Uroburos was alright, but I want to fight the regular T or G virus zombies again.

Hopefully this game will return to the survival horror gameplay, rather than being a full blown action game. And hopefully they either fix the co-op or take it out, because I don't want to have to deal with another idiot partner like Sheva. :meh:

Generic zombies?

Sounds like old school Resident Evil, which you all want.

I'm indifferent.

Yeah, I miss the old Resident Evil.

And I would say that the older games were much more creative with their monsters, especially comparing them to 5. 5 had some cool things, but the originals had some terrifying designs such as Lisa Trevor, T virus infected zombies with fly genes spliced into them, G virus infected zombies, hunters, lickers, exc. So their ideas are not limited.

And for the love of God, no giant cockroaches. O_o

EDIT: And please Capcom, don't do that "modernization" of the characters like you did in 5. They're fine as they are.

The only thing I hope for is that they at least put the title in capable hands. If it is a reboot to the series (which I'm pretty sure is what we're all expecting) I'd like a relatively back to basics approach. Getting zombies would be sweet but I'm not holding out for anything.

Why? Zombies were only effective enemies because the controls were so shitty.

Why does everyone say that? I found the controls to the RE games that came before RE4 to be amazing and awesome. I adjusted to them rather quickly.

yea, I agree I never had any problems with the RE controls, and was actually quite surprised the first time I saw someone complaining about them because from the moment I picked the game up it worked fine for me.

as for zombies only working because of shitty controls... seems they work pretty good for dead rising and dead rising 2, not to mention the game doesn't need to contain 100% zombies, just no sentient ganados or manjini or w/e, start with a few slow zombies, then introduce faster running zombies and by the half way point completely replace the slow zombies with the running zombies , then things like lickers and hunters etc etc.

RE's controls were kind of clunky, but they were by no means terrible. Zombies weren't good enemies, but they gave you confined spaces and odd camera angles so you'd have a greater chance of being attacked if you were being reckless. In most scenarios, zombies suck ass with good controls. They're fucking Zombies, they're not that big of a threat when you have the ability to easily aim at their heads or do 180 turns and strafe and other shit.

All this being said, I was under the impression RE6 is a reboot.

*party killer comes in*

I despise old school RE tank controls. It is by far one of the worst control schemes I've ever had to use. I didn't grow up with it so I never got used to it, instead I played games with controls that were actually easy to use. When I finally got to try tank controls with Onimusha 2, which most likely made some improvements on the original controls, I put down the game after having trouble getting up an elevator right after the prolouge sequence.

They were that awful. Despite wanting to know more of that story after playing Dawn of Dreams, I will never, and I mean NEVER, play that game ever again until it's controls are fixed in a port.

Not a fan of old school RE controls ether.

If this is a reboot, I think it is time we play as Barry.

Wow, you're a terrible person. :p Onimusha's controls weren't that bad, they were the same controls as the original Devil May Cry, and even Devil May Cry 3. People who complain about controls, are pretty much people who played "super amazing ultra great current gen" games and then go try to play older games. I mean shit, Metal Gear Solid also has terrible controls by this standard, yet it's still "best game evar" on the PSX.

Actually that's false.

Onimusha 3 and Dawn of Dreams, yes, but when I play the first two, I only find tank controls and having to rotate my character around. It's so stiff and hard to manuver with.

DMC3 has jumping and and the ability to turn at a moment's notice, like every 3D game after the gaming industry realized tank controls were a horrible idea. I can't say anything on the first DMC having not played it, but I've seen clips and it doesn't look the same at all.

I'm fairly certain DMC & Onimusha, or at least Onimusha 2 had the same engine more or less. I think Onimusha 1 felt a little more Resident Evil-y.

yea, I can see not digging the controls if you didnt play them before playing games with more current control schemes, while I never had any problem with the controls and thought they worked great, I would be an idiot if I said it wasnt clunky, and I can see how going back and playing RE1 for the first time ever after having Played Re4 or gears of war or w/e can be really tough.

also...

Any game that involves you to stand still and shoot is an instant fuck-up in my books.

Looking at you, Dead Rising!

The reason RE required you to stand still was because of limited usage of controls, when you were aiming, instead of moving you would aim up or down with the left buttons. I think these games were pre-dualshock, and before people understood what the right analog stick could be used for (until Halo was like "Hey fuckfaces, you can use it to AIM!")
