Great podcast this month! A comment about the discussion near the beginning: I recall hearing Michael Pachter say once that he doesn't think gaming will go 100% digital anytime soon because there are lots of people (like Tom) who prefer to own a physical copy to digital download.

I also prefer physical copies of games. I like having something to display on my shelf, plus I like to borrow games from friends.

Keep in mind that kids around 10 will never see a physical copy, all their stuff will be on ipad's or 3ds as it starts to do dlc full titles like the last one. Old school ppl like us have always had a physical option. Look how fast CD's went out the window, I have not bought a cd in 10 years.

Yeah, being able to borrow games kicks ass....but i hate how they have a DLC code to play mult player. So even if you do have a physical copy, eventually you will be screwed. DRM is coming in more ways.

I can't imagine a time when you can't have a copy of a game, cd, or a movie on hand.

Technology has moved too fast and too many things are digital now. I haven't figured out if I hate digital technology more than I like it or not. The system will crash...

I also had Streets of Rage 2 crap out on me when I transferred my files from my old 20GB hard drive to my newer 120GB one. Everything transferred fine except for the license to that game. Now I get a timed trial of the game and that is it. It's like 5 minutes or something then it prompts me to unlock the full game. I can't even re-buy it, it gives me the option to "download again" on the marketplace. When I do, nothing changes. I loved that game.

Just another hazard of digital distribution!
