So, here's the dealio. Podcast audition recording will be happening shortly. Birdman never got back to me on some mic specs, and I know he's a busy guy this week, so I'm just going to go into it with what we have and see what the audience response is. But before we get out there and flop, there's a really good way for me to improve my audience's response to the show. "What's that?" you ask. Well, I'm glad you asked, 'cuz I'm going to tell you. PRE-PODCAST DISCUSSION!!!!!
First, let me tell you what you should be expecting, and for those of you who listened to Wish Come True on HealingTouch you shouldn't be expecting the exact same thing. Here's what you should expect:
- Ideally we'd like to have a 30 minute podcast, although our first show might be a little longer.
- We have no confirmed schedule, ideally in a perfect world it'd be once a week, but we'll see how well that all works out in the big picture. It may end up being every other week, it also really depends on news and content in the world for discussion. If it's a slow week, well... who knows! What we do know is we'll have a better track record than the other comic related shows, and that's what counts.
- We (more like I) don't have a confirmed co-host yet, but Beeslo and Mongo are our two auditions (We had a third person apply, but Beeslo and Mongo have a larger knowledge of all things awesome.)
- We will be discussing Comics, Manga, Anime, and maybe some Japanese culture/movies. Primarily we'll be discussing whatever it is that's going on in the world today, story arcs, etc. We'll also try to give love to Marvel, DC, and the Indy scene in terms of comics.
If there is ANY ideas/suggestions for what you'd like to see in the show, or would like to see "borrowed" from the other comic shows that were around before us, be sure to reply here and let us know! This way, since I'll know what you guys want, I'll be able to give it to you, and then we'll all be happy in the end.
Pre-TGH Podcasts
If you're interested in checking out Wish Come True: Miracle Surgery before it arrived on the scene here at TGH, you can check out these episodes at HealingTouch (but keep in mind the quality and format will be drastically different on TGH, but if there's something you enjoyed over on HealingTouch and want us to keep, let me know!)
Okay gang, here's the recording I did with Mongo. Unfortunately I was unable to record Beeslo's, but this can be used to give us feedback. Also, I know I'm too quiet, I'm blaming my microphone right now. If we're picked up I'm investing in a better mic.
We're still not official yet, and I'm not involved in the speaking aspect of this show, but let me say that it sounds DAMN good and I can't find any qualms with it's quality.
It's finally out! Sorry for the delay! We had some issues with our sound, primarily my Mic. We're working to fix the issue, and HOPEFULLY we'll have it ready and working 100% awesome by Issue 2 or 3. We'll also be trying to keep our podcast between 30 and 45 minutes, depending on how much we have to talk about.
We had some issues... primarily remembering how to record the Issue, and so we actually did TWO podcasts this day, one that wasn't recorded and then this one. We're still working to fix the issue with my mic, I think it sounds relatively okay in this episode. This issue dragged on for a bit in terms of length, but you'll be relieved to know that Issue 3 is roughly 30 minutes and this was an isolated incident that was a result of us trying to cram in stuff from Part 1 into Part 2.
Here we go guys, Issue #3, we added a little spice to things and focused on a specific sub-genre of comics. I'll avoid spoiling it here in the description, just give it a listen instead! This one clocks in at roughly 30-35 minutes. I hope you enjoy!
Listen to our thoughts and feelings regarding the Wolverine film that came out last week. 50 minutes of discussion goodness in this first ever Annual. For those who may be a little confused, an Annual is when we break the normal mold/format and focus on a VERY specific topic, whether it's an individual comic, a movie, an event, or whatever. Feedback is greatly appreciated (Send me a PM or leave a reply!)
We did things a little differently this time. We decided to just sit down and just give you a power hour of straight up Comics. We discuss this week's comics and next week's comics. We felt that this week was just too awesome in the Comic department to do a random anime episode. We also went a little extra crazy and decided to do things "Unplugged" or "Back to Basics" and skip on the background music. We also decided to overuse the word "We" in this summary.
Sorry for the delay, my home PC has been attacked by a virus and therefore editing has been delayed for a few weeks. Mongo is picking up the slack as best as he can on the editing front, and he's even put together our very first One-shot. What's a One-shot? In the comic world it's a stand-alone plot/story separate from the main continuity that somebody can just pick up and read. For us it's a stand-alone review that is pretty short and to the point, usually done by a single person but it can sometimes include others, or even special guests. This One-shot clocks in at a whopping 5 minutes and is about a particularly infamous anime known as "Berserk", enjoy!
Mandatory apology about another delay. The PC is still broken and Mongo has been editing these in his spare time. We've got one episode in our back log getting worked on, and we're recording a new one on June 4th. We'll be having TWO people editing them, so they should come out roughly in the same time and we'll be back on our weekly track record again, for real this time. In this very special episode, I make use of my Cellphone to call into the show and record that way. We take this time to discuss the general trends in anime and the types of shows currently sweeping the nation. To be more specific... Haruhi, Death Note, Tengen Toppa, K-On, Lucky Star, and a few other big names. We also take this time to discuss a few series you may have totally missed out on due to the tidal waves of hype surrounding these other series. Give it a listen, and maybe you'll discover a new series to check out!
A bit longer than a week, but here it is. Everyone is in America and using microphones just like the good old days. In this issue we discuss the awesomeness and depth regarding two major players in the Marvel underground, The Hood & The Punisher. We also bring you a NEW segment that we'll be doing monthly. What is it? You'll have to listen to find out! Also, for some added fun, try and count how many times Link coughs throughout the entirety of the Issue. The winner gets a free bottle of NyQuil.
Remember when you thought the last issue of Old Man Logan was out, but then instead, it was Present Day Logan on a Motorcycle and you were all sorts of pissed off? That's sort of like what's happening here. For our "chronological" listeners, Annual 2 takes place in between Issues 5 and 6. In this very special (so special it's an Annual) episode, Beeslo comes to us live from Paris, France and we talk all about Europeans and their crazy crazy comics. We also cover such hot Parisian topics like, Baguettes, The Eiffel Tower, and Outback Steakhouse.
Note: A Variant Edition of this podcast will be available shortly. What's so Variant about that edition? Well, it's not going to have any BGM, so if you have any difficulty hearing "cellphone Link" or "Live from Paris Beeslo" or even just "I'm at home Mongo" you'll be sure to want to check out the non-BGM Variant Edition to listen to us without interference.
We're in the swing of things now, and like I've stated earlier, the updates are just going to keep on rolling in. This particular episode we talk about Amazing Spider-Man Family, American Son, The Iron Patriot Acts, and all other sorts of things webheads might be interested in. So, why isn't Issue 7 called "Does Whatever a Podcast Can" or some other bad Spider-Man joke/reference? You'll have to listen and find out. I can assure you, despite the 72 minute clock in (12 minutes of which are bonus material after the end of the show) you will be on the edge of your seat the entire time as drama, tragedy, and thrills strike on the set of the show!
The Anime throwdown of the century starts NOW! Link from YIBR vs. Justique from the AudioShocker and the fine folks from The Comic Book Pitt help referee the match. Who will reign supreme? Well, don't let the deceiving cover art of this Annual fool you, the result will be entirely surprising and unexpected. Also, besides Link getting into a fight with a girl, we bring you everyone's thoughts and feelings regarding Data's (of Star Trek Fame) anatomically correctness.
Mongo and I join you this week with a whole lot of batman discussion. We also throw the phrase "goddamn" around at least 20-30 times throughout the podcast. We discuss some of the most recent comics in the batman series, Batman & Robin #1, Red Robin #1, as well as the actual main Batman comic. We also discuss our feelings on the yet to be released as of recording Streets of Gotham and Gotham City Sirens. We also throw a little dab of Green Lantern in for coloring.
All three of us join you this week and we've got three weeks worth of comic content to provide you. But, we still manage to do it all within an hour. In this issue we bring you our gripes and groans to the 3.99 price point, we discuss Captain America Reborn, and we also discuss our personal favorites of the past month. Three hosts, two comics each, which ones will prevail? Be sure to listen to the 4 page preview in the back of the issue for details concerning our Issue 10 Event*
We're all here again this week and ready to talk comics. Marvel? Nah. DC? Nah. What're we going to talk about? Independent comics of all shapes and sizes, more specifically we discuss Lucifer, Unwritten, Chew, and Chaos Punks. That doesn't whet your appetite? Fear not! We also discuss Marvel's nostalgia for the '90s and their ever valiant crusade against electronic publications... THE FOILOGRAM. Can we you have Foil and Holograms on your monitor? We think not. Printed publications will never die! Kudos to Marvel for saving the printing industry.
Here we are again this week, but Issue 11 isn't here just quite yet. To tide you over, we offer you a 30 minute comprehensive review/discussion of the X-Men Origins: Wolverine game on the X-Box 360 (and other consoles, but we review the 360 version.) Does this game stink, should you run out and buy it, should you just rent it? Listen and find out!

Sorry guys, couldn't record the podcast with Beeslo because the plug-in I used required me to purchase it to record. However, here is the tentative plan.
Beeslo AND Mongo will be my co-hosts. They are BOTH too awesome to pass up, and there's great benefits to using both of them, and y'know what? A 3 person podcast would be pretty nice and mix things up a bit.
I'll be editing and submitting the Mongo & Link mini-cast interview and I'll post a link to it here in the following week or so.
PS. We are coming up with a new name for the show. So... suggestions ARE appreciated.

Sorry I didnt get back to you on mics However a general rule, is the higher the frequency response the better
No problem. We did a test recording with my relatively crappy mic headset I used for Teamspeak. Mongo sounded pretty clear on his end though. I'll definitely be investing in a better version in future podcasts.
