Link was kind enough to make the info IRC thread an announcement for the site, which is great, but as a result, we can no longer use the thread to announce new things for the channel or help people get in there if they're having trouble (It's locked). That is what this thread is for.

Various new features or news for the channel will be announced here. Likewise, if you're having any troubles, go ahead and bring them up here.

Currently Quakenet is infected with a Trojan that spams various channels with a link to a file. I've put the room in moderated status so we don't see messages from non-voiced people (normal mode). As a result, anyone who just enters the room will get an error message when they try to send a message.

There are two solutions for this, until the situation is resolved:

1) Message an op with the /msg nickname command (nickname being whatever the op's screen name is) and let them know you're there and would like to talk, they'll activate voice for you. If you are not immediately voiced, then try another op, if no ops respond, wait a while.

2) You can register with the quakenet Q bot which will allow you to be authenticated on quakenet. Once that happens, you're a known user and we can make it so you're automatically voiced when coming into the channel, or trusted. (Here is some information on how to do that) Note: this ability will only be active after you are given auto voice ability by an OP, so option 1 is still required, but only once.

If the ops recognize who you are, they may give you voice before you ask for it. However, due to the nature of the situation, we're not going to voice every person who shows up without them specifically asking, since the problem is with a spam bot.

The channel mode will be lifted as soon as quakenet deals with the problem.

Quakenet has a new, officially supported, webchat client.

This should eliminate a lot of the issues people were having with mibbit, since, it's tailored for the network we're using. (No more random g-lining or throttling, I hope)

Apparently, the Trojan has been handled. No more need for voicing.

It's nothing fancy, but has both. The reason why I put this up is because the page built into the service has it's own embedded IRC chat, which is fine, but at this point in time, I think, overall we've put too much effort into trying to create a chat that everyone on the site can enjoy, and to have some random, unmoderated (there was already some ridiculously annoying spamming going on because of this), duplicate that easily gets more use because it's connected to a live stream, can be, to say the least, discouraging.

So, check it out, if the stream is up again it should automatically be on the this page.

I took a few moments, to make the previous test page look more like the site. There's two, one with the hero theme one with villain theme.

It can't choose based on what you already have on the forum, because it's not, in any way, hosted with the site. I've used the thegameheroes.com url to get the content to show up (with all links heading back here).

I wasn't sure if people knew of this ability or not, but, Steam has a built in webbrowser and it does work with the webchat sites. So, it's possible to play and chat in IRC at the same time.

Open up steam, make sure game overlay is working (in-case you're playing a non-steam game), that can be found in the settings menu, I believe.
Once you've launched a game, open the overlay (default is ctrl + tab, I think), in the lower right hand side, there's menu selections. Click Web.
In the address bar, go to webchat.quakenet.org, put in whatever nickname you want and the channel #thegameheroes. And that's it.

Sadly, steam's overlay is a bit laggy, but it still works well enough for casual chatting while playing games!

Crono is giving lectures on why he's awesome and I'm going to follow that up with a slideshow presentation on why it's so cool to game with furries.

Seriously though it's really getting awesome and more folks should pop in and say hi.

This seems to be a chronic problem ... people show up then leave and claim nobody was there. No one will know you're there unless you say something or type someone's name (as it appears in the user list) ... this does not work like an IM buddy list, it will not notify people that someone has joined the channel if their chat window is minimized.

So, please, if you join the channel say something! No one will know you're there otherwise.

It wouldn't be IRC if no one was idle

Seriously though people really should come by it's good times and we're usually spouting off some stupid conversations. Well at least I am. But we do talk about Adventure Time and Regular Show and you KNOW those things are awesome.

Anywho stop by and say hi, not like it's gonna inconvenience you for trying out something different and rather fun.
