Looks like PS3 and PSN owners will get more than just free Playstation+ for 30 days.

Also, look out for more information on the rest of our Welcome Back programme, including which free content you will be eligible for. We will be offering PSN users the opportunity to select two PS3 games from a list of five, as well as offering PSP users the opportunity to choose two games from a list of four. We will let you know exactly what games are available very soon.

@Nosebleed. You should inform whoever buys your Xbox that it doesn't come from a smoke free environment. Also not good for your computer. :serious: You had some pretty valid points in your video. But the PS3 browser is terrible (although rumor has it Chrome is coming to the PS3).

I love your response to all this stuff. I love your 360bro vid and it has TONS of valid points. I don't think i ever said that 360 was awesome anywhere in the smoke you vid, did I? I am super pissed about the 2nd xbox i had to buy because mine red ringed.

I also love the playstation sucks remix. I laughed pretty hard at that one too. Funny thing is, I agree with a lot of your points. All I ask is to keep it clean in the back and forth with folks. I never personally insulted you or PS3 users and I would hate to see your very valid comeback be dismissed by other posters here.

I have a lot of respect for the posters on TGH hence this is the only place I generally engage in a discussion. I actually enjoy the back and forth as long as it doesn't break down when personal jabs get thrown in.

At any rate, thanks for weighing in on the topic!

I don't give a shit which system is better, and most gamers don't either. They all have their strong points and their weak points and they all offer a different library of exclusive games which comes down to a matter of personal taste.

Dear Max,
Congratulations on your attempt to deter anymore attention to yourself by acting as if I've been angry about this situation at any level. Sadly for you I don't think your ruse has worked. I honestly could care less about what console you play however I do care that you truly believe all consoles are created equal and that you live in a mindless gaming utopia where everyone agrees that the Xbox 360 is an equal contender to the Playstation 3. It's not.

A lot of gamers, unlike yourself, actually do care about what system is better because they care about quality. Which by your quoted post relays to me that you don't. Take the topic of this thread for example. Angry gamers who aren't willing to bend over and take whatever these corporations shell out took action, hacked a major corporation's servers and held it on lock down for a period of time with a list demands to be met. While this maybe excessive dedication it is a demand for quality because if we don't demand quality these gaming console manufacturers will continue to sell you shitty broken consoles (75% fail rate, LOL!), take certain things away that don't allow that particular gaming console manufacturer to make money off of you ("No Linux for you!"), and leave you frustrated with a hobby you enjoy. I, however, do care and I hate to see people deluded by telling themselves that re-buying faulty consoles is okay, paying for a service that should be free is okay, taking away backwards compatibility is okay, taking away any right to do what you will with a product you own is okay. It isn't and you shouldn't accept these things.

Now that gaming has spiked in popularity over the past 12-13 years or so companies have been doing everything to make as much money as possible with these systems and quality takes the hit. Look at Nintendo for example. What was once the pioneer to popularize home gaming and the company to actually save gaming in the mid 80s is now shelling out bargain bin games. (Wii Sports anyone?) At the end of the day all these corporations care about is money and if they aren't making maximum profits off of you, they'll make it off of other people who "don't mind paying a little more." Game developers are what hold consoles afloat if not for them we wouldn't have games to play but if the console for which the developers are making a game is a shitty broken console developers will jump ship to develop for a better console and leave you with a broken product and shitty games from shitty developers. It may even kill gaming entirely if the market is saturated with junk games and junk consoles. It almost happened in 1983.

This my final response to you Max. After this I'll read your response and not even address you in this thread anymore. Your opinion became worthless after you informed us all that you don't even play games online. You had no purpose in posting in this thread and still don't. Hopefully you actually read my wall of text and learned something but considering you're dumb enough to just take things for what they are I doubt it.

All my love,
nosebleed

It's Craigslist. I ain't tellin' them shit!

True while the browser is mildly shitty (I've only had a few freezing issues) it's still capable of logging onto this website! Plus why are you even using that shit anyways on the Xbox or PS3? If you have the internet it's more than likely you have a computer as well. Use that!

If Chrome comes to the PS3, oh dip! Chrome is the shit!

To the rest of you. Stop saying that each console has it's ups and downs, it's positives and negatives, it's goods and bads, or it's pros and cons we all know which gaming platform is the best.

You are ignoring the fact that everyone has different tastes. I can show you a list of games from every system that are liked by many different types of gamers all around, simply for being well made games. How hard is it to understand that someone might own an Xbox 360 because they were interested in some of it's earlier exclusives like Halo 3, Lost Odyssey and Dead Rising? The same goes for PS3 as well with games like Demon Souls, Infamous and Mod Nation Racers.

I will say the same thing I said before. I don't care which console is better, and the average gamer sure as shit doesn't either. Every system has their own fans, and if the PS3 really was superior on every level, and the majority of gamers have it in their head that quality is everything and that the PS3 is better (as you say they do) then how come their aren't way more PS3 fans then there are 360 or Wii fans?

This is getting out of hand. You are a troll, plain and simple. So I guess all I can say now is, well played sir. No hard feelings though. It's okay, I'm a big retard, and you can be a raging PS3 fan boy twat.

Apparently CNN has somehow found evidence of a third attack planned by a group of hackers against Sony's service. The attack, if successful, will result in the information taken being posted for all the public to see.

Why is Anonymous denying these attacks? There just so happens to be another group of dickwads that want to take a shit on sony? I don't believe it.

This is ridiculous. Get a job with homeland security or be a cyber security consultant. Why shit on millions of people? Do people still think it's all Sony's fault?

Sorry I'm so late in getting to this party, but just thought I'd get my two cents in.

1. Having financial information stored somewhere other than under your pillow means you run the risk of having your shit stolen. It's happened with banks, retailers, online retailers, insurance companies, airlines, the government and now Sony.

2. All companies regardless of what service/product they sell will always initially downplay the scope and scale of the event and information that has been compromised. It doesn't do them, the public, or god any good by screaming in the streets how the sky is falling or some other doomsday scenario until enough information is known to make a good PR release on it. I mean, fuck, look at how long it took the US to react to Katrina, and how long it took Japan to say just how bad the nuclear problem was after the tsunami.

3. Some companies never say jack shit unless forced to by the gov, so the fact that Sony did says that they want their customers to be aware of the situation and take steps to protect themselves (the consumers protecting themselves).

4. If you are fucking retarded enough to have your debit card as your primary mode of payment for shit online then while you don't quite deserve what happened, you do deserve a kick in the nuts for not wearing a cup. Use a credit card with online theft protection so when shit like this happens, you are protected from minute one of it being reported and usually back through the day of the actual event. I'm never saying that victims deserve being victimized but lets face it, in todays world you have to take steps to protect yourself.

5. Order your fucking credit report every fucking year (for those in the US). It's free. You can see what is going on with your credit and who may have done bogus bullshit.

6. Don't like what happened with Sony? Don't use them, you have alternatives. Just be forewarned no company that does any business these days is safe from having information taken from them. If you really want to not worry about this stuff, use cold hard cash. Cheddar!

PS - Just got back from the Virgin Islands. The rental car guy had a PS3 hooked up in his office and had some Street Fighter IV hooked up. I didn't plan on it but I had to whoop his fucking ass. I felt bad.

Well, this seems interesting. By the way, hello everyone. I'm WXYZ, and I'm here to fuck shit up. (In all seriousness, I just joined this forum.) A link to this little thread was posted in the forum that I primarily use, and after reading the entirety of this thread, I felt so compelled as to register and join this forum and make a post (of course, this isn't the only purpose of making the account, but I'll explain that later).

The situation in this thread is very clear to me. It started as opinions on the video some of the TGH staff made and ended in a frustrated individual and a self-righteous agitator trading blows. As I went through this thread, it seemed to me that the comments made by everyone were very well mannered, regardless of which side they were coming from, or how they expressed their points, or lack thereof. That is, with the exception of Max.

I'm looking through the thread as I'm writing this post, and I see some truly superb posts made by KnasterMaster, Kakeh and Crono, in which they express a topic, their opinion, and supporting reasons all in one post. However, when I look at all of he posts made by Max, I see the exact same structure, and effectively the same post several times. I can paraphrase it pretty easily:

"[MY OPINION, STATED AS FACT, WITH NO LEGITIMATE SUPPORTING REASONS RELATED TO MY OPINION; REFUTAL OF ALL OTHER STATEMENTS]"

At this point I would like to point out the fact that I am in no way attacking your opinion Max. I am assaulting your means of communication/presentation of it, if I would even call it that. You are more or less repeatedly making the same point without using any formal support, and collaterally insulting anyone who doesn't agree. This isn't even trolling. You are forcing your opinions upon those who are trying to have a polite discussion about the video made, and the related topics.

To give some information as to where I'm coming from in this argument, I have neither the PS3 nor the Xbo360. I own a Wii, but never play it. I have friends who both own both consoles, which has given me the opportunity to have an extensive experience with both platforms.

I also have a friend who is a hacker. I have another friend who was a hacker.
I know how that shit works.

Furthermore, I happen to be one of the few who actually read the terms and services of some of the product I buy, so I can have an understanding of what I'm getting my hands on and into. It's brutally obvious to me that a lot of people don't. Especially now.

Coming back to the conduct of the subject matter of this post, I am disappointed. From the moment you threw a sideways insult at Nosebleed I knew the feud was destined for an ugly ending. If you were actually trying to have a legitimate argument, which I know for a motherfucking fact you weren't, you wouldn't have said what you did. You wouldn't have changed the perception of the scenario by calling it a "faggy fucking console war" and called him a twat. You were attacking your opponent instead of following through with your argument.

[Removes Gloves]

You are a fucking idiot. Ever person has a right to their opinion and to express it, but what you have done has shown me that some people just don't deserve it. Your complete disregard of the conventions of discussion are completely and utterly disgusting. You sicken me.

On top of that, I'm now going to attack the flaws I see in your "arguments." Pfsh, why the fuck am I even calling them that? They are miserable excuses for outbursts in the English language. It's quoting time Motherfuckers.

Max wrote:
When you buy a PS3, you are also buying it's online services. If you are going to pay money for something, you should expect it to work (or at least not to fuck you over).

I'm sorry to break it to you, but that's a part of consumerism. Every time you purchase ANYTHING, you are making an investment, hoping that it will fulfill the purpose you intended when buying it. This is true with anything, from food to cleaning appliances. With the gaming market this is no different. If you even as much as look at the terms of service for any online game, it will say something to the effect of "This product is subject to change by the company making it. IT ISN'T PERFECT AND NEVER WILL BE." If the service goes down for a period of time, like it did with Xbox Live, then it happens. You can't get pissed off at the company for something like that. Sure, they screwed up for it, but it's part of the service. Now what's not part of the service is hacking.

Max wrote:
Sony should have had stronger security and should have let us known before it was too late. The bottom line is that Sony is to blame in this situation.

The purpose of computer security to make it more difficult for a hacker to infiltrate the system. Perfecting security if this kind is fighting an up-hill battle. As long as a computer is connected to another computer, it can be hacked.
Also, when a company is hacked, they are BEING ATTACKED. IN NO WAY WAS IT THEIR FAULT. Sony did not tell anyone to hack them an any way, shape, or form. Hacking is a crime, because it is the invasion of privacy, and, in this situation, leads to the theft of confidential information. Hacking is almost like a natural disaster, and I meant that in no way to be a pun to the tsunamis that had occurred. This is even worse, actually, as a 200-foot wave of water doesn't have a brain, nor motives. Whoever hacked them was after the company for whatever reason it may be. I'm going to put this in nice big letters so that even if you skim through this entire post without reading it, which I have a powerful feeling you will, you will see this:

SONY IS NOT TO BLAME

Max wrote:
They really dropped the ball on this one.

...

You know what? Sony didn't drop the ball. You did. And people like you.
It's people like you who will take the first opportunity you see to yell at something or someone that has a fatal flaw or an unlucky bout, and throw insults and comments in a futile attempt to make yourself feel better after your parents divorced because of the drug problem you had consumed the lives of people besides yourself, to compensate for small or mutilated genitalia that will never see the light of day due to a defect, to make you feel like something, when all you are is merely a cunt-chewing smegma-gargling cock-swallowing anus-dwelling too-ignorant-for-your-own-damn-good piece of fucking shit who will never have any sort of mild success in life because everyone can see how obscenely flawed of a person you are, and always will be, because you refuse to see the flaws of your thoughts and action.

If you are trolling, congratulations. Successful troll is successful.

Now get the fuck off of my internet so everyone can enjoy it again.

Now there's one point of your post I'm slightest confused about.

You compare hacking to a natural disaster such as a tsunami. Are you suggesting that hacking is inevitable on any platform, or that the scope of the damaged caused by it is proportional to a natural disaster?

Also try to keep the ad hominem attacks (regardless of how funny they might be) to a minimum in the future if you can.

Max, he may have insulted you, but he also raises some valid points. I know it might seem easier for you to just swap insults with people, but if your position on this, or any, matter actual has any validity you should be able to address his points.

I've already told him to stop the ad hominem attacks, and I've had to warn you before about this sort of thing, so if you don't have anything constructive to add to the thread then just leave it be.

--- I see you've edited your post since then, so that's a good start.

Okay, so tell me if i'm seeing this right.

WXYZ wrote:

Way to introduce yourself to the forums. My name is Max. Well, you allready know that part. XD

Where do I begin?...

Sony is a mega giant of the video game industry, a multi billion dollar corporation. You would think they would be able to afford state of the art internet security, firewalls, whatever.

They have customers all over the world so they have the massive task and responsibility of keeping their customers private information safe. No matter which way you try to spin it, it's their job to keep their customers information safe and it's their job to prevent hackers from getting into their networks. Well, both of these happened and you can bet your ass it's Sony's fault, 100%, end of fucking story.

I'm sure you heard of the saying "the customer is always right". Well it doesn't totally have to do with this situation, the idea behind it is similar. The fact that Sony is a business means they are automatically held accountable for their shortcomings, especially when there is enough reasons to hold them accountable (not telling the public early enough that they should change their password information, not having good enough security, keeping the PSN down for weeks).

I know you want to blame the hackers, but don't try to weasel around the fact that Sony and the hackers are two completely different entities. The hackers are not a business and they don't have the resources that Sony has.

Nice try. I know I'm guilty of name calling too, but maybe I can try to be better than that and you should to. Don't make foolish assumptions about my personal life when all you have to go on is a short couple of paragraphs of text on a forum. I mean, I could make ridiculous claims about your personal life like "LOL YOU MUST BE A VIRGIN AND HAVE A TINY PENIS". If you want to be taken seriously, then refrain from this bullshit. Or better yet, just accept that I believe that Sony is to blame and accept that you can't change my mind as much as I could change yours, and let that be the end of it.

Hi there, Max. I noticed that you made a post in response to a dear internet buddy and it didn't make a lot of sense in the bigger picture. Because of that, allow me to pitch in my two cents.

Quote:
Sony is a mega giant of the video game industry, a multi billion dollar corporation. You would think they would be able to afford state of the art internet security, firewalls, whatever.

They have customers all over the world so they have the massive task and responsibility of keeping their customers private information safe. Well, both of these happened and you can bet your ass it's Sony's fault, 100%, end of fucking story.

The only viable way of securing customer information is by putting everything on an offline server. Then, whenever someone needs to access this information, they phone Sony and ask for their account to be activated. Sony then takes all that information from their server, put it in a stand-alone computer and put it up online under a huge pile of passwords that are given to that person via armed transport. And even then there is some way to get everything you need to hack that account if you have the right tools at your disposal.
If this is not the case and the databank remains hooked up to the internet, it is in fact vulnerable.
The current level of security of all social networking services like PSN do not use two-part security system, making all of them equally as vulnerable as PSN. What is a two-art security system you ask? After you log in, you have to give in another password each and every single time you even so much as try to change your profile picture.
Yes, it is their Sony's job to keep that information safe, and they did the best they could. They did it just as well as Microsoft does or Valve.

You signed a contract with Sony and you can bet your ass that in that agreement, they covered their ass so tightly that if you shoved a lump of coal up there, it would probably come out a diamond.
Plus, a time table has been released that states Sony released the information about the hacked database a mere day after they found out themselves. before that, they were just investigating a breach.

I know you want to blame the hackers, but don't try to weasel around the fact that Sony and the hackers are two completely different entities. The hackers are not a business and they don't have the resources that Sony has.

Just because you buy a one million dollar safe, doesn't mean that the jackass with the right know-how can't break in to it. Resources mean nothing. All a hacker needs is a computer and he should be able to do almost whatever the hell he wants. If not one computer, then a hacker has the tools at hand to use multiple computers. Or at least that's how I understand it.

Now here's the part where it gets tricky, Maxy, but I know that a few things of what I just said might not be entirely accurate due to a lack of research. But, I am willing to accept that when I'm wrong, I'm wrong.

See, I can make big posts too >P
