Tom are you in the latest TGWTG movie?

Also I notice in the trailer that Mickey is in it....so you guys haven't talked to him in a year yet he's in that? How'd that happen?

I do have a cameo in the up coming movie. We have not talked to Mickey in a year or so. Benzaie is not in the movie either but has a cameo I believe. Do not know why Mickey is in the movie, he does not contribute to anyone that I know of. They said that they wanted to feature new people on the site so they did not invite everyone back. I guess they were intimated by my top gun acting skillz.

Hmmm, just strange to me to have someone who's basically disappeared in their movie. I guess it's hard to tell how much he's in it but I saw him at least twice in the trailer.

There's only one bangable chick in that film. I've no idea who she is, but she had the seven of nine thing going on.

That's probably the most offensive thing I've ever heard on the TGH forums. C'mon now guys. These are actual living breathing people. :P

As for Mickey being there. I'm guessing it's because he's "hip with the kids" and all (I want to say he has an Internet fanbase that rivals TGH itself, or at the very least a VOCAL fanbase.)

I'm sure there's been plenty of other offensive things. Geoff Sexiness shirtless has my comment beaten by an exponential number. Speaking of which...what happened to that guy? I'm not saying he needs his own show again, but I'd love to see you guys annoy the hell out of him at some point in the future.

Wait why haven't you spoken to Mickey in a year? Did you guys have a falling out? I haven't been around as much as before and it seems I've missed a lot. Can someone fill me in?

Edit: As for Geoff last I heard he was working as a PR guy for some gaming company. TGH actually interviewed him about a game he was helping promote but this was years ago at this point so I forgot where it was and what the game was.

Funny cameo HT, though I have to say I miss you being part of the main cast. And I'm not sure about that "feature new people on the site" stuff since it seems like pretty much the same cast as the last 2 movies.

As far as Mickey, it's still weird seeing him have such a big part. I guess I can buy Link's theory of him having a vocal fanbase. I've seen many comments though asking who he was, and the few that have known say he's "8-bit Mickey from The Game Heroes".

So far I'm not enjoying this one as much as the other 2; it has some funny parts but overall I'm finding it a tad....lame. Maybe it will get better.

I liked that Tom kept on going like nothing even happened to him. The over acting that many of the contributors do during these movies gets old really fast. It was always nice to see Tom's subdued reaction as it was a nice balance.

To be honest, I think they kept Mickey to bring in the Brony/Pony audience. I saw that the fans went crazy over his shirt which had some Pony reference. That and his twitter/tumblr following is pretty large.

It's repetitive and the novelty has ran dry. Granted, I'm not the biggest of science fiction, so most of the jokes are flying over my head and I'm not laughing at all. I'm still interested, but I kind of wish it would be over. In fact, I think the whole Nostalgia Critic/TGWTG scene is getting kind of old. Most days, I don't even watch most of their videos and only watch a very select few.

I mostly agree; I think the crossover stuff has gotten pretty stale. It was cool when they only did it every now and then, now almost every episode seems like it has a crossover. Plus it always annoys me when they announce who the other person is in the review in question form...(LINKARA? WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?).

Exactly! Plus, it is like they bring them on for no apparent reason. Just some random person appears and then they do a strange crossover.

Mickey is a brony. A pretty big one at that as it shows on his twitter and website. He has many friends when it comes to that category and if he tells them that he is in this video, they will probably go watch him. One brony tells another and the pony people are now watching this movie.

Mickey is still an internet 'celebrity' even though he doesn't appear in videos. He just a vast audience that follow him around. It's just Doug's way of bringing in as many people as possible. Exactly the same reason he has the AVGN appear if only for a cameo.

I think a good portion of his fanbase came from being on The Tester. It makes me to sad to see he doesn't contribute to TGH anymore when it could probably be argued the only reason he got voted on there was because of his presence here to begin with.

As for "bringing in the brony's," I can't wait until that fad dies down. I simply don't understand it. It's cool to like whatever you want and all that, but why does it have to be shoved down other people's throats that you like it? Why is it something that makes up who you are as a person? I am a huge fan of all things Dexter (the TV show about the serial killer) but I don't call myself a Dextite or something and frequently publicize my fandom of it at every opportunity.

...that is one of the hundreds of reasons why I hate Twitter.

As for the Brony thing, I'm with Residential Evil. I just don't get it.

To be completely honest, I had never even heard of the term "brony" until this thread.

Whatever, Doug can have Mickey in there if he wants, I just think it's lame since he's been MIA forever.

I found out about them as I have Mike Dodd on facebook and it seems he posts 10 pictures of my little pony a day. I still needed to have a friend of mine explain what a brony was to me... I still don't get it but whatever.

From what I understand, the rise of the brony is really kind of perplexing and a take on society as a whole.

All of us should know the rise of 'My Little Pony' and why it has attracted so many men between the ages of 18 - 35. They will say that the characters, stories, animation and overall depth of the show has just called to them and they truly enjoy it. So, for men who enjoy the show, they call themselves 'bronies'.

But, I heard a reason it has become so popular is actually a part of a large societal shift in our culture. For many generations, boys had boy things and girls had girl things. Back in the day, boys enjoyed sports, war, fighting and later on comics and video games. Girls enjoyed dolls, playing house and dress up then later on enjoyed Barbie's and Strawberry Shortcake. There were shows and media that was marketed and created for each of these genders. Transformers for boys and Rainbow Bright for girls.

In the past decade or two, that gender line has began to become blurry. Mostly, girls have begun to enjoy boys interests. Girls love comic books, video games, transformers and every other general boy interests. So, now a days, you will see comic books and video games marketed especially to girls because they actually exist in those markets.

With girls enjoying boy stuff, it has not really been in reverse. Boys don't like Disney Princesses. Boys don't like Barbies. Boys aren't supposed to like My Little Pony. Why? Because they would be made fun of by their peer groups.

Bronies are a stand up against that prejudice. They are usually straight boys that love something girlish, but are still masculine and boyish. They are fighting the stereotype that boys can't like girlish things.

From what I have heard, that is the deeper and social meaning behind the Bronies.

Ok this is the last time I'm going to post on this subject as the thread is really going off topic here:

If guys want to like a girl's show/toys, I'm fine with that. I really don't care. What I don't like is the constant in your faceness that seems to come with this group. Posting hundreds of pictures of ponies, ranting on and on and on about them... ok, we get it, you like the show and merchandise. Please stop posting hundreds of things on it a day because there are people out there who find it very annoying.

That's it, that's all. Back on topic.

This.

Personally I think saying it's "fighting prejudices" is giving it too much credit, but whatever.
