mscupcakes' sig surpasses both the height and width limits.

Thought I'd point that out.

We've changed the allowed sizes a lot of times since I made this topic almost 2 years ago, we generally agree that limiting width isn't as important as limiting height, even so we've always made exceptions for transparency, just like we do for SOTW.

Right now we actually don't have an official limit. The limit now is basically "use common sense". If we see any crazy sized sigs then we'll impose stricter rules.

Actually, I'd still prefer if people kept their sigs to a minimum of 530 width, because horizontal scrolling is nasty and annoying if you have to deal with it due to someone's sig width.

Yes, I realize most people are rockin' large monitors with 1024 width, but even then with 530 you gotta figure you're still taking up at least 50% of the available width on their monitor with your image. That's pretty big 'yo.

Link, no, sorry. As of this year if you're using a resolution 1024x768 or lower you are officially in the absolute minority. 85% of web browser users (who visited w3schools) are using a higher resolution.

This is likely indicative of trends across the board. Considering this is a semi-technology oriented community it'd be ridiculous to assume anything above 15% of the user base has a resolution of 1024x768 or below.

Browser statistics carried out by The World Wide Web Consortium: http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_display.asp

Still, no need for excessively large sigs, I'd prefer if things are kept in the 500 width range and not 600.

I prefer sigs that look wider and shorter. There's usually so much dead space to the right of everyone's sigs, so it just looks a lot more tidy.

Maybe it's just me

Nah, I agree with that, but it's not always easy making sigs like that. My fave size is personally 500x200.
