Honestly, I'm half tempted to just drop DC comics all together again. I mean, I'm part intrigued and part pissed off. I fully expect Secret Six to be getting the axe, and if Steph Brown isn't Batgirl anymore... well, fuck... it's just back to buying the 5 or 6 other dumb bat books out there or buying books based on arcs/creative teams as opposed to characters themselves.

Like I said in the other thread. I'm just ready to not give a fuck about shit and drop books. Stephanie Brown is fun, she's Batgirl, she fucking EARNED it. I want Barbara Gordon to walk, but she doesn't need to fully replace Steph, that shit is dumb. Also, I'm still 100% behind Dick Grayson as Batman, don't give a shit about Bruce Wayne in the grand scheme of things. Nightwing isn't exactly my cup of tea... mostly because of the outfit I think.

The only problem I have with that kind of mind set is that's the way I felt back when they decided to bring back Hal Jordan and push Kyle Rayner to the background. Kyle's entire tenure as the solo lantern throughout the 90's felt like he had to keep proving his worth and both Ron Marz and Judd Winick did a great job establishing him as a top tier character (at one point he was pretty much a god). So the notion of bringing Hal back sounded like it would be a step backwards; but it turned out to be one of the best things to not only happen for the GL title but DC Comics in general. The point I'm getting at is just because you like the way things are right now, doesn't mean that you'll hate it when it changes.

Before you bring it up though I do see the one glaring difference between the two: Kyle was kept around and stayed as a GL and Stephanie, for all we know, is probably going to get retconned out of existence; or in the best case scenario might go back to being Spoiler. At this point its too early to tell, but to say you'd drop an entire line of books over a book that hasn't even come out yet is about as silly as dropping it because of the renumbering.

This means every awesome thing they've done with Booster Gold no longer happened, doesn't it?

...urge to kill...rising...

Honestly, I enjoy, and I mean... REALLY enjoy so few DC books that dropping the entire line isn't as drastic as you think.

Wonder Woman has been iffy at best.
Batgirl is something I look forward to every month (after maybe the first few issues it took to set things up.)
Gotham City Sirens is a mixed bag.
Secret Six has been strong for the most part and something I also looked forward to every month.
Batman titles fluctuate based on team, Batman Inc. is the only really solid book lately, although Detective Comics has been enjoyable recently.

That about sums up my DC comics.

So... I fully expect a majority of the titles I'm enjoying to end up being canceled. Maybe I'll check something new out (can Catwoman have her own title again?) but I have a feeling I'll not be buying any DC titles in September outside of some bat books that don't get canceled and/or changed.

A good jumping on point is ALWAYS a good jumping off point as well. Double edged sword DC.

Honestly, they're going to pick and choose and mash it together. It sounds much like the post-crisis universe where they just took concepts they liked and kept it in continuity and ditched stuff they didn't like anymore.

The issue with Booster Gold is that he's a major character in the DCU timeline...and they're changing the timeline.

Partially, yes. But who is to say that the main universe isn't being switched to a new multiverse and the old multiverse is where all of the post-crisis stuff happened. Just a thought.

DC sticks with the multiverse/Otherworld angle, they haven't adopted Marvel's timeline splitting. If they're working with timeline, things get changed for good unless someone stops the thing that changed everything.

Although I agree with you on the Secret Six and Batgirl news (as you obviously know), I can't help but feel excited for some of the new books. Yeah, I'm gonna be bummed that a couple of my favorite books are gone but they've announced some books that have really got my attention.

I agree with you there. There's some stuff where I'm like "Oh cool, a Catwoman book." or "Oh cool, Batwoman is finally coming out." But... for the most part it's just bitterness and worry.

I'm really, really trying to be optimistic. Announcements (or in Batwoman's case evidence) like those are helping.

In Batman news...

http://comics.ign.com/articles/117/1172822p1.html

I'm happy to hear that Bruce is going to be the only Batman. I love that Snyder is staying on a Batman book, even if all the did was switch him and Daniel.

This relaunch just made a mess of The Dark Knight seeing as how its getting a relaunch after only 2 issues. And with a whole new storyline.

Ohh and this:

For comic book fans it sounds like this sucks balls.

For old fans like myself who got out of collecting a while back because I couldn't keep up with all the shit this is a god send. I haven't collected comics for over 15 years. I'm going to start again because of this. Trying to catch up on comics is like climbing a sheer vertical ice cliff that is soaked in oil and having hands covered in crisco.
