I was the Simpsons call in. :-D

Yenywho, Data East is one of my favorite classic game manufacturer (although, they are now defunct). Joe & Mac (best on SNES, imo), Heavy Barrel, Karnov, Burgertime, Cobra Command... so much of my gaming career has been spent playing Data East games.

Anybody remember the Nintendo Vs. machines? I think there was a Platoon one, a Mario one, a Duck Hunt one, and a ton more. I remember playing the Mario and Platoon one at a nickle arcade in Westmont, Il a long time ago.

No mention of Contra? I think that might be one of the few games made in the 80s where the port was better than the arcade. Also, Confidential Mission on the Dreamcast was a fantastic light gun port that I used to play all the time (although, it hasn't aged well). Cadillacs & Dinosaurs I'd give an honorable mention, even though I'm not sure your can call the ports "ports" because they were so radically different.

Man, you guys forgot some great arcade ports... I'll have to call in and educate yous guys about my little known favorite arcade port ever. :rabbid:

Fantastic show and some of the best call in's I've heard on the show, makes me wanna do them again, but alas, I go back to school as of next Monday and begin 2 years of study and constant work to prepare for university.

Don't really know much about arcade ports and their original arcades so can't make a comment on it but sounded quite interesting, looking forward to the turbo-graphic 16 (i probably spelt that wrong, sorry) sounds like a interesting topic, but next week's sounds kinda cheap, perhaps look back through the topic suggestion thread, I'm sure there's some interesting topics besides just talking about Mass Effect 2 and the new Capsicum game, perhaps a Mass Effect show would be better after people have had enough time to play through it, you could both share your experience of the story and your personal choices made, people could also call in about there choices and such, just an idea to make that idea seem more interesting.

On a side note, with the release of ME2 being the RPG on everyone's mind right now, will we get a follow up to your RPG show from last year, a lot of people said they were kinda disappointed by it or felt you should have gone into it a bit more, you should probably do a follow up to that coming off of ME2

EDIT: Oh yeah, AND HAPPY AUSTRALIA DAY! :-D

Wow, so that's me with not too much sleep and and cough syrup. Cool.

As for arcade ports, what about one of the best ever...GYRUSS!!! A game that rocks so hard and eats faces. It's been a treasured game for two generations in my household.

What about Arkanoid? Or Final Fight? Haggar for President!

Thanks to Darkseid, which I never thought I'd say without fear of Omega-beam death.

There was also a port of the original Space Invaders on the Atari 2600 and 5200 that just weren't as good as the original arcade version. And I used to have the Game Boy port of Street Fighter II which was still a pretty great port but didn't have all the characters because of the technical limitations of the original Game Boy back in the day.

And there was also a Game Boy port of the original Killer Instinct which you guys forgot to mention that I also used to own which was a pretty good port except for the fact that neither Cinder or Riptor were in it also due to the technical limitations of both the cartridge and the handheld itself, and his moves were severely altered because they were deemed too graphic for Nintendo of America's standards.

The Atari 2600 port of Pac-Man wasn't all that great either graphically!

And another game that was very great in both the arcade as well as the home consoles was the original Splatterhouse which had to have various changes made to it on the Turbo-Graphix 16 version here in North America while the Japanese PC Engine version was left unaltered, and both can be found on the Wii Shop Channel for both Japan ans North America.
