My best memory of Doom was with all the WAD files. These were patch files for Doom that changed the in-game enemies and stages. I had the Pac-Man WAD. I had the Wolfenstein WAD (my favorite; where else are you going to find Nazis except in Hell?) And I had to the Alien WAD, which was actually better than Alien Trilogy. I miss the customizability of PC Doom.
I've never played the multiplayer, either. Not that I would have enjoyed it. I'm just not into multiplayer death match type games.
I also don't think I ever had an official version of Doom. I may have gotten a full copy from one of my friends who were more than happy to load up my PC with full-release games that I never had to pay for. I remember playing this and X-Com. X-Com was the first strategy game I ever completed.
Well, that's enough about Doom.
I have to take Dodd to task for his statements regarding overtime pay. I live in a state that requires overtime pay, and it sucks ass. Here's the problem: It doesn't work the way you think it does. Instead of making more money, what REALLY happens is that employers cap your hours. If you have trouble making rent, you have to take on a second job, which is ridiculous. It would just be easier to be able to work out an arrangement with your current employer to work longer hours. But because of the STUPID LAW that's in states like Illinois (where I live), you end up having to take up TWO jobs instead of one, and you're still not getting overtime. You're lucky if both your jobs are close to one another.
So that's why mandatory overtime pay is bullshit. It accomplishes nothing except making your life more stressful.
