In regards to the Smoke you Discussion:
Way to get ballsy and open up by calling Andy a "fucking idiot" Dodd. (Sarcasm). . . But while I didn't really think it was cool of you to blantantly throw that out there, it did make me laugh. You're a "Serious journalist" and you open with that. . . . Well, it did get the point of your frustration accross.
As for the bow. The Sony execs gave a 7 second bow in apology. Pretty small apples when a bow for corporate apology usually lasts ten to fifteen seconds.
"Corporate bows are usually held for around ten or fifteen seconds."
-Brian Ashcraft, Kotaku.com.
The article goes further to say,
"When the former Mitsubishi Motors Corp. apologized for two-decades of product defects, he bowed for a full minute."
Andy was supposed to respect seven seconds? Sure he could've worded it better, but you see what he means by his response now.
Then you talk about doing the research and how it effects you from a journalists perspective, and about being prepared. Yet when Tom asks you to provide your evidence about what was wrong with their opinions on Smoke you, you have nothing. Sure you made a list of stuff, but didn't rememberany of it? And why would you bring the list to the discussion where you'd be pretty sure the topic would come up.
Ok, now here's where I laughed for a while. "If you want good stuff, go read the comments on Blistered thumbs."
Well ok, let's take a look at the Brilliance of the lovely comments at BT.net
"Balanced view??? My hairy butt crack it is. You are both ignorant and give BT a bad name."

Thanks for that beacon of hope an inspiration. What a critically acclaimed comment!
"so let me ask you “thegamequeeroes” and anyone else watching this. If the person next to you had their wallet and credit cards stolen, would you point and laugh? Would you tell them they should’ve purchased a wallet like yours? Would you criticize their self defense and tell them they should’ve seen this coming? Or would you make an incredibly childish, poorly edited, poorly shot, video about how terrible they are and how much they suck.
This video lowers, the already questionable, standards of blisteredthumbs."

"thegamequeeroes"? Nice! Just the quality type of statements you were hoping we'd read to take this community's comments seriously eh?
And from your Best buddy:
"smoke you andy. Like come on stupidity and controversy are two different things. This is an example of the first one.
Please research once in a while, running your mouth will get your views but for all the wrong reasons. used to love you guys but you guys are REALLY going downhill."
-Scottydoo32
This is a great post that shows me where the video went wrong? Really? I see a poorly structured 2 paragraphs calling Andy stupid and not really telling me why he thinks that way. It sounds to me like he heard you ranting about the video and how there was no research and came on here blindly stating that there wasn't.
Now, it's obvious I looked through the comments to find the best examples of the worst comments and there are some decent ones there, none that will really help to provide too many examples of what exactly was wrong with the video, but let's look at your example:
"No, you got thumbs down because you decided to blame the victim. I agree that Sony did not have the best security in place. However, this attack wasn’t done by everyday computer users and just people that google hacking instructions. This intrusion was done by someone or a group of highly skilled users. It was calculated and well executed. You can criticize Sony for not having better security, yes, but only about as much as you can a woman that’s been raped because she’s dressed provocatively. I only hope that it doesn’t happen to Xbox and Wii users, because this attack on Sony proves that it can be done."

You played this comment as if it where a response to the video itself, in reality it was a respons to a user who posted a comment agreeing with the video, then Stated that his comment would get a thumbs down based on it being pro-Xbox. Well, now his comment has had so many thumbs down that I can't read it.. That's what I love about BT.. "Express your opinion, but if a majority of people don't agree with you.. Your opinion gets blocked."
I think a lot of the comments on Blistered thumbs don't get the point of the video, or the difference between a "journalistic review" and as Tom said, an opinion piece. The opinion piece is there to incite discussion, which it is doing. But going hand-in-hand with that at Blistered Thumbs is that people are adding some flaming into that directed at Andy. And youtube comments are even worse for the most part.
After watching the video quite a few times, Andy did start out a little rough on the Playstation 3, but did get back to a serious tone, quoting Articles he'd read and what not. Sure Andy gets a bit over-enthusiastic with these videos on occassion, but I didn't see a lot that merrits him being stoned to death. Smoke you is supposed to call companies out for being Jag-bags, and that's just what they did in this episode. Seems like most of the commentors are big Fans of the Playstation, so it makes sense that they'd want to defend their favorite console. But the problem is they get personal with it, and start attacking Andy, or The Game Heroes.
But you have a list, so let's see it. Let's see where Andy went wrong with his comments. Just seems to me that, as an associate of the Game Heroes, you should be sticking up for them, not calling them "Fucking Idiots" Birdman.
